Chapter 132:
The shop assistant got to her feet, swiftly packed all the clothes Candice had picked out, and respectfully handed the bag to her.
She looked at Candice and begged, “Please.”
Biting her lip, Candice glared at Milton. She would feel guilty if someone were fired because of her.
Apparently, the man before her was forcing her to concede.
It was a clear declaration that she couldn’t escape his control.
Suddenly, Candice stretched out her hand and pulled the package towards her. The weight of it left her breathless. Without saying another word, Candice turned around and left.
The shop assistant let out a sigh of relief and kept bowing towards Candice’s back. “Thank you. Thank you so much. Have a good day!”
Bettina then smiled awkwardly at Milton and said, “Mr. Lopez, I’m leaving now. Goodbye.” She then jogged and caught up with Candice.
At the door, she finally caught up to Candice and grabbed her. “Wait for me. I’ll return to the law firm with you.” Only then did Candice stop and bite her pale lip out of anger.
Bettina wasn’t sure how she’d convince her. It was acceptable that Milton wanted to gift Candice the clothes. However, it wasn’t acceptable for him to force the gift on her. Candice could be persuaded by reason, but not by force.
“Take it easy. He didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Candice’s beautiful eyes flew wide open as she asked, “How could you speak on his behalf?”
“No. I won’t do it. Let’s go. I have something more important to tell you. Didn’t you always want to buy your villa back?” Bettina skillfully switched the subject and coaxed Candice into following her.
“Any news? Didn’t they always refuse to sell it?” Candice swiftly asked.
She had always wanted to buy back the villa the Blake family had sold to pay off their debts. That was her home. She had saved enough money over the past three years, but she never expected that the house’s current owner was unwilling to sell it.

Bettina scratched her head and said, “According to the information I received from a powerful person, the neighborhood is slated for redevelopment, which might open the door for a sale of the house. I just don’t know for sure. To be honest, I was in too much of a hurry to fill you in. Get in the car.”
Bettina opened the door. Candice got into the car, buckled up, and said, “I know. I plan to get in touch with the new owner immediately. I have to get my home back.”
“Yes. You should purchase it and move out of Greyson’s apartment. It would be inappropriate to continue living there.” Bettina’s displeasure with Greyson ran deep.
Candice sat in the front passenger seat. A pile of clothing was placed at her feet, making the space quite cramped. She grabbed it and stowed it away in the back seat. She had intended to shop for her own wardrobe and had no interest in Milton’s clothes, but she ended up receiving even more clothing from him.
Candice’s sad expression prompted an uneasy grin from Bettina. “There aren’t even that many. For him, that isn’t important enough to mention. Even if he spends all his money, he will always make more. Try to see it this way: you helped him sell many clothes to Cathy today, right? Consider that your pay.”
