Chapter 705
Chapter 705:
“Oh, you’re quite the character,” Candice replied, chuckling.
She gestured toward the receptionist. “There’s no shortage of clients seeking my counsel. What makes the Olson family so special? Why do I have to take your case? I assure you, I’m far from interested.”
Hearing this, the receptionist eagerly agreed, “Indeed, Miss Blake’s schedule is fully booked, even into next year. You are very late.”
Sigrid’s gaze turned frosty toward the receptionist. How dare this office worker speak to her that way?
Unfazed, Candice continued, “Furthermore, the issue your mother raised is probably more complicated than you think. Miss Olson, I suggest you have a heart-to-heart with her. Don’t meddle in your family matters through third parties.
“Also, I must say, this dress is not to my liking. The waist feels tight, and the sleeve length is off. It lacks practicality. Your fashion sense could use some refining. Remember, the ultimate purpose of a dress is to be comfortable to wear.”
Sigrid was left fuming, her face contorted with rage.
She was at a loss for words after Candice’s sharp retort.
Candice motioned Sigrid toward the exit. “Your presence isn’t desired here. Please leave. Cease interfering with our work.”
Sigrid responded with a smirk. “Work? What work are you speaking of? Is your duty simply to allure men? Is this your way of securing clients for this law firm? You must’ve made a fortune by ensnaring a big client like Royal Garden Corporation.”
Candice’s expression altered. “I implore you to speak with decency.”
“Decency? That’s reserved for those who have some semblance of dignity.” Sigrid seemed to have found her target. “You’re a woman who trades her body for the favors of men. It’s common knowledge that you bartered intimacy for these benefits. You’re undeserving of respect.”
Candice held her ground, her fists tight and her rage suppressed. “Each case I’ve fought has been won on the merits of my own capabilities in court. It necessitates professional acumen, a domain where no one can aid me. As for you, shrouded in the honor of an illustrious family, you have support. Can you demonstrate any of your own competence?”

Sigrid felt embarrassed when the sensitive topic was brought up but she adamantly accused, “You were unfaithful during your marriage and cohabitated before tying the knot. Don’t act all righteous and virtuous. You are obviously a bitch. He will eventually grow weary and abandon you. Just wait for the inevitable rejection! Humph!” With that, Sigrid swirled around and strutted out of the law firm.
The receptionist at the counter, who had overheard the entire altercation, stole a peek at Candice. While Candice’s face didn’t reveal much, a slight tremor in her body was noticeable.
The receptionist offered an awkward grin. “Miss Blake, do not let it trouble you. Nowadays, living together before marriage is commonplace. Of course, they need to live together initially to understand their compatibility and evaluate the prospects of a future together. We are all quite progressive now.”
Abruptly, Candice queried the receptionist, “In your opinion, do you concur that I live with Mr. Lopez?” The receptionist was confused and couldn’t grasp what Candice was implying. She nodded. Everyone at the law firm was aware of the relationship between Candice and Milton.
