Chapter 173

Chapter 173:
Greyson shook his head. “No way. Forget about it. Just take a job at Harmony Hospital. Or if you’re not feeling up to it, don’t go to work. Stay home and relax.”
Madilyn’s eyes welled up with tears. At this point, even Greyson didn’t agree with her. There was no way she could continue with ballet dancing. She just couldn’t handle it anymore.
Greyson, however, was more focused on heading to the study with Candice’s diary in hand, eager to continue reading it.
“I’m feeling a bit tired today,” he told Madilyn. “Let’s talk about this tomorrow.”
Madilyn wiped away her tears, realizing it was pointless to try to convince him further when he seemed so uninterested. She nodded, pretending to accept the situation and appear compliant.
Afterward, Greyson walked past Madilyn and into the study.
Madilyn, ever perceptive, noticed the thick diary he was holding. It definitely didn’t look like a regular book. The cover was a lovely shade of purple with delicate lavender patterns, giving it a fresh, sophisticated feel. It was clearly meant for a girl.
“What’s that, Rey?” she asked, her voice tinged with suspicion.
Greyson simply replied, holding the diary more securely in his hand, “Nothing. Just some medical notes I jotted down in this ordinary notebook.”
Madilyn couldn’t bring herself to believe that. In truth, it was clearly a girl’s book. Rather than pointing it out, she responded with, “Alright.”
Greyson quickly hurried off, but then, as if recalling something, he turned to Madilyn and asked, “Madilyn, do you remember why you unexpectedly went to Overshow in your second year of junior high?”
The question took Madilyn by surprise, and she began to sweat unconsciously. Why was he bringing up something that had happened a decade ago? Had he uncovered something?
Madilyn was very anxious and stammered, “So… so many years have passed that I… I can’t recall. Why are you asking that?”
With a doubtful tone, Greyson arched an eyebrow and said, “Have you really forgotten? I thought that was something you’d never forget.”

Madilyn paused, as if thinking, then answered, “I just remember it was an activity organized by the school, but I can’t recall the details.”
“Can you remember where in Overshow you saw me?” Greyson pressed.
It was clear Madilyn felt uncomfortable.
“You know I can’t remember any address names. Also, a lot of time has passed. It’s strange that you’re asking these questions out of the blue. It’s been a whole ten years now.”
“Well… something from my past suddenly came flooding back to me.”
Greyson promptly turned and walked away without asking more.
Slumping back into the chair in the study, he flicked on the table lamp. The cool design and soft yellow light helped him easily reminisce about the past.
Candice and Madilyn had been classmates in junior high.
