Chapter 459
Chapter 459:
A burst of light pierced the room, illuminating it and relieving the heavy atmosphere.
Milton’s gaze was instantly drawn to the source of the light.
Standing before him was a slender woman dressed in pure white.
Candice had arrived, looking breathtakingly elegant.
Milton’s heart leapt with joy as he stood up, unable to take his eyes off her. It had been a month since he last saw her, and he had missed her dearly.
With each step, Candice entered the courtroom with undeniable grace, and Milton couldn’t help but stare at her with a mixture of shock, amazement, and concern. She looked even more beautiful than he remembered.
Her eyes were crystal clear, her nose bridge high and defined, and though her lips weren’t as pale as before, she still appeared somewhat frail.
She was much thinner than the last time he saw her. Despite his efforts to help her gain weight, she had lost it all again and become thin once more. The miscarriage had inflicted significant physical and emotional harm on her.
He fixed his eyes on her.
Was she here to hear the final verdict?
If so, he was willing to comply with her wishes.
He would take responsibility for his mistake and make it up to her.
Judge Fletcher hesitated upon seeing Candice enter the room. Her presence made him apprehensive about delivering a light sentence, which could prompt an appeal and delay the case’s closure. An unjust verdict could also jeopardize his career if the higher court held him accountable. As he contemplated his options, Candice approached and handed him a document.
“Are you submitting new evidence?” he asked. “If accepted, the trial will be postponed.”
Milton watched Candice’s slim figure, resisting the urge to embrace her. No matter how unfavorable the evidence she presented was, he would not stop her.

Meanwhile, Raul anxiously stood up.
He hadn’t anticipated Candice’s sudden appearance. He was uncertain of her intentions and powerless to stop Milton’s actions, so he could only watch as the situation deteriorated. Raul touched his forehead and closed his eyes in resignation, anticipating the worst possible outcome.
Suddenly, Judge Fletcher’s voice rose, causing everyone in the courtroom to be startled.
“Plaintiff, are you withdrawing the case? Are you absolutely certain?” Judge Fletcher asked.
Raul thought he had misheard, so he raised his head.
Candice said coldly, “Yes, Your Honor. I want to drop the case.”
Raul froze. He hadn’t expected Candice to take the initiative to drop the case.
Milton was even more surprised. He gripped the edge of the table tightly.
