Chapter 857
Chapter 860:
“Yes, I have. The law firm staff gathered for a meal, and it was quite delightful.” In truth, Candice had only managed a few bites, her nerves suppressing any semblance of hunger. Whenever stress and anxiety gripped her, appetite became a foreign concept.
“Make your way to my office at once. A fresh case awaits.” Milton’s tone remained measured and detached, devoid of any emotional fluctuations.
“Got it.” Candice powered down her computer and departed from the law firm, armed with a notebook. She walked toward his office. Traversing the extensive glass corridor, she eventually arrived at his office.
There was one intriguing thing, though.
Unlike previous occasions, Blair’s customary presence at the secretary desk was conspicuous by its absence.
Candice couldn’t help but wonder if all of Milton’s secretaries had vanished into thin air. It seemed inconceivable for there to be no one manning the desk, even when faced with pressing matters.
What could have transpired?
Candice gingerly pushed open the door to his office, revealing Milton engrossed in perusing the documents spread before him.
The sound of the door’s movement failed to elicit any response from Milton, who remained steadfastly focused on his work.
“Close the door.”
“I got it,” Candice complied, shutting the door behind her.
“Lock it,” Milton ordered again.
Following his instruction, Candice turned the doorknob, securing the office’s privacy. She reasoned that Milton must be entrusting a confidential case to her, necessitating utmost discretion. Perhaps it involved a secret acquisition, and she couldn’t help but speculate on the identity of his next target.
“Come closer.” Milton’s voice grew impatient.

Without delay, Candice hastened toward him. Seeing the stack of documents before him, she ventured, “Are these all…”
Before she could complete her sentence, a startled cry escaped her lips. In one swift motion, Milton extended his hand and pulled her toward him. Caught off guard, she found herself unable to maintain her balance, inevitably falling into his embrace.
“What the hell are you doing?” Her voice trembled, eyes wide with disbelief as they fixated on him.
Milton firmly guided her hand toward his belt buckle, while his other hand gently lifted her chin. “Unfasten it. I cannot endure until nightfall!”
“Are you out of your mind? Didn’t you mention handing over a new case to me?” Candice recoiled in horror, never expecting that Milton would summon her to his office for such an affair in broad daylight!
“I lied!” Milton arrogantly confessed, shamelessly basking in his audacity.
Candice’s beautiful eyes widened in astonishment. It now dawned on her why he had insisted on locking the door. She had fallen prey to his cunning scheme.
