Chapter 630
Chapter 630:
After a moment’s contemplation, Candice countered, “Let’s not rush to pull Greyson in. I don’t want to tip off the opposition. Let them believe they have the upper hand and get complacent for a while. Something else is crucial right now. Belinda’s safety and custody are paramount. We can’t let them harm her. Without an eyewitness, we’re down to physical evidence, which is mostly circumstantial, making it tougher to win the case.”
“I’m on it. I’ve arranged for someone to keep an eye on her. Rest easy. She’ll be fine,” Bettina assured, tapping her chest confidently. “Just sit tight and wait for the trial.”
Candice chuckled. “Impressive, Miss Reeves. Always one step ahead.”
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was an email. Candice looked at it and saw that it was evidence against Corless. With a flick of her wrist and a raised eyebrow, she exclaimed, “I’ve obtained the evidence! When the time comes, I’ll catch them off guard in court.”
She had already reached an agreement with Milton. Although they had evidence against Corless, they wouldn’t let it go public yet. Milton had also arranged for the resort in Coving Mountain to be locked down, blocking Corless’s entry. So, Corless was oblivious to the fact that they’d discovered his secret room. He was probably still dreaming.
Bettina inquired, “Candy, I’ve thought about everyone’s safety. I want to ask you something. With the court trial about to commence, how can we ensure that Corless doesn’t seek revenge against you? Who can ensure your safety and provide you with protection?”
Immediately after she finished speaking, a clear response emerged from the doorway.
Bettina, the assistant lawyer, and the receptionist turned in unison towards the source of the voice. Astonishment swept over them as they recognized Milton. Similarly shocked, Candice had assumed that Milton had headed back to his office, so why was he suddenly here? Did he come from the air corridor?
Before long, even Mona, who was typically uninterested in such drama, was drawn by the commotion to the lobby. In an instant, the lobby became very lively.

Bettina nervously glanced between Candice and Milton. Ever since Candice’s unfortunate miscarriage, she had hesitated to inquire about their relationship. It was clear, after all, that Milton’s mother was responsible for Candice’s fall down the stairs, which led to the miscarriage.
Candice asserted, “We’re in Ploville. The press is closely following the case. Corless wouldn’t dare make a move. You’re overthinking. I’m okay. I promise to stay safe.”
Milton swiftly countered, “Are you okay? Have the events in Wenkin slipped your mind already? You were nearly…”
His words were cut short as Candice threw him a series of warning glances, urging him to keep quiet about her previous danger.
Just as expected, Bettina asked warily, “Mr. Lopez. Did you accompany her to Wenkin? Did Candice meet some dangers in Wenkin?”
With a grim tone, Milton responded, “Ask her. She ventured alone to Corless’ resort and ran into Corless himself. Would she have returned if I hadn’t shown up?” He disregarded Candice’s signals.
