Chapter 584
Chapter 584:
“At that time, you were taken to the hospital in Wenkin due to severe hemorrhage, right?” Candice asked.
Belinda nodded.
“Yes, that’s correct. They treated me briefly there before transferring me to the hospital in Ploville,” she replied.
“Okay, I see.”
Candice made a mental note to visit the hospital in Wenkin, hoping to uncover new leads.
“Okay, I think that’s all I needed to ask today. Take care in the detention center.”
Candice gathered her things and prepared to leave.
Belinda’s hand shot out suddenly, grabbing Candice’s arm with a pleading look in her eyes.
“Miss Blake, did he really do this to me? Was it truly him who caused me to be put in detention?”
There was a glimmer of hope in Belinda’s eyes, but it was quickly extinguished by Candice’s words.
“Yes. I’ve told you everything.” Candice’s face remained stoic and expressionless.
The hope in Belinda’s eyes faded as quickly as it had appeared. She slumped back in the chair, feeling defeated and hopeless. As Candice moved to leave, Belinda couldn’t hold back the question that had been gnawing at her.
“What would happen to me if I were convicted of fraud?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Candice paused, turning back to look Belinda in the eyes. “According to criminal law, if you’re found guilty of workplace fraud, you could be sentenced to three to ten years in prison and fined,” she explained with a calm, measured tone.
Belinda’s eyes filled with tears as the weight of Candice’s words sank in. She felt utterly hopeless. She had been so sure of her innocence, but now she questioned whether it would even matter. The man she had loved had deceived her and led her into this nightmare.

As Candice began to leave, she paused and turned back to Belinda, offering words of reassurance.
“Believe me, I won’t let that happen. Don’t lose hope. Live for yourself, not for anyone else. This will pass, and you will have a new life ahead of you,” Candice said, her voice firm and encouraging.
Belinda wiped away her tears, looking at Candice with a mix of gratitude and sadness. She nodded quietly.
“Miss Blake, Corless is a cruel man. Be careful,” she warned.
“Thank you for the reminder. I will,” Candice replied, giving her a small smile before turning and leaving the room.
After leaving the detention center, Candice was met by Jarrod, who stood waiting outside with respect. As she got into the car, Jarrod asked, “Miss Blake, where would you like to go?”
Candice replied instinctively, “Take me to the airport.” She felt an urge to go to Wenkin, trusting her intuition that there was something important for her to find there. Since it was a short business trip, Candice didn’t feel the need to prepare anything in advance. She figured she could buy any necessities upon arrival.
