Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Greyson spotted a figure approaching. It was Milton. Despite being turned away, Milton was persistent in his desire to see Candice.
Greyson felt a strange sensation in his chest as if he couldn’t breathe.
With a devious glint in his eyes, he leaned toward Candice’s ear.
He whispered, “What about now? Do you still have feelings for me?”
From Milton’s vantage point, it looked like they were about to kiss.
Greyson used to scoff at the idea of making someone else jealous, but now he was consumed by the desire to drive Milton mad with jealousy.
Candice instinctively leaned away from Greyson, avoiding his touch.
Despite being so close, she was resisting him. She couldn’t understand why.
This seemed to irritate Greyson.
His feelings getting the better of him, he reached out and grabbed the back of her head. He was about to kiss her, no longer pretending like moments ago.
He wanted to prove that she still had feelings for him. But before he could make contact, Candice pushed him away in alarm.
As she did, Candice caught sight of Milton’s retreating figure in the distance.
Suddenly, something clicked in her mind, and she raised her eyes to question Greyson, “You didn’t want to kiss me at all. Was that all an act?”
Candice took a step back, eyes wide with disbelief. “Did you do that on purpose? The other day, you left your things in the apartment. Were you trying to make him see them? Did you know he might be there?”
Greyson’s handsome face flushed with embarrassment. Candice had hit the nail on the head. He had deliberately left his things in the apartment, hoping Milton wouldn’t think she lived alone.
Candice glared at him.
Without warning, she pushed him aside and made a move to leave.

“What? Are you going to find him?” Greyson snapped, grabbing her wrist. “You’ve fallen in love with him already? You changed your heart that quickly?”
“You of all people have no right to judge me!” Candice retorted, her voice laced with anger. “Today, I’ve seen the real you. You only care about yourself, the Harman family, and your reputation. I’ll just take my love for you over the past three years as a foolish mistake.”
With that, she shook off his hand and stormed off in a fit of rage.
Candice’s annoyance grew as she quickened her pace. All she could think about was the sorrowful expression on Milton’s face when she had shaken off his hand at the press conference, and the sight of his back as he walked away just now.
Her thoughts kept returning to those moments. She hadn’t expected Greyson to be so despicable. As he leaned closer to her, she thought he was about to kiss her for a brief second.
She was unprepared for his deception.
Her mind was a jumble of questions and confusion. Would she even have allowed him to kiss her if he had truly wanted to? Didn’t he realize how much he had already hurt her?
