In that moment, Candice was barely conscious.
But she still tried to avoid touching Milton since she knew he couldn’t stand it.
So she changed the direction of her fall and was about to hit the floor.
To her surprise, a pair of warm arms caught her just in time.
Her head was spinning. She felt dizzier and uneasy as her face flushed red.
She realized the drink she had earlier was much stronger than she had anticipated.
Candice’s feet were unsteady. She knew she shouldn’t hold onto Milton for long,
but she had no choice but to cling to him tightly.
It was like holding onto a lifeline.
Milton’s expression grew serious as he looked down at the woman in his arms.
She was so alluring with her flushed cheeks and hazy eyes. He couldn’t deny he was tempted by her.
He couldn’t believe she was so drunk from just one glass of wine.
If it had been anyone else, he would have thought they were faking it to get closer to him.
He took her bag and supported her with one arm, guiding her toward the car.
Opening the door, he carefully helped her into the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt.
Then he got into the driver’s seat and drove away from the club.
Candice’s body felt like it was on fire. Her head was throbbing and her thoughts were muddled.
Desperate for relief, Candice pulled at her collar, trying to cool off.
As the cool air hit her skin, she let out a sigh of relief.
As Milton drove, he glanced over at her. His eyes trailed down to her chest, and his heart skipped a beat at the sight.
“Where do you live? I’ll take you home,” he said, breaking the silence.
“I have no home.” Candice waved her hand dismissively. “I’m a homeless woman,” she muttered and let out a laugh.
Milton was at a loss for words.
He had no idea where Candice could go, so he called Raul for help.
“Find out where Bettina lives.”
Raul was startled. “Why?”
“Candice is too drunk to tell me where to take her. I’ll take her to Bettina’s place,” Milton responded.

“Okay. I’ll call her immediately.”
Raul hung up the phone and dialed Bettina’s number.
“Hello, it’s late. What do you want, Mr. Hinks?” Bettina answered groggily, yawning.
“Where do you live?” Raul asked.
“Why do you ask? Would you like to sleep over at my house?”
Raul was stunned by her boldness.
Bettina then gave him her address. “No. 63, Perpetuity Shining Road, Building 21, Chinsea Villa Complex. Come on over. I’ll be waiting for you.”
Raul was taken aback. “Actually, it’s not me who’s coming. Mr. Lopez wants to bring Candice to your house! She’s very drunk and can’t remember where she lives. Do you happen to know her address?”
Bettina suddenly yelled, “No, I don’t know! I’m not even at home right now. Don’t bring her to my house!”
After a brief pause, she added, “You can tell Mr. Lopez to take her to a hotel or to his own house. Whatever you do, please don’t come to my house. There’s no one there. No one will answer the door!”
With that, she abruptly ended the call.
Raul stared at his phone in confusion.
What did she mean? She had just said she was at home, but now she was saying the opposite. Why the sudden change of words?
Raul shook his head in disbelief. How could she tell him to instruct Milton to take Candice to a hotel?
He rubbed his forehead, feeling helpless and confused all at once.
As Milton drove, Candice, who was beside him, was clearly not in a good state.
“Just stay put,” he muttered.
Candice’s vision was blurry, and her words slurred. “Aren’t you hot? Why are you wearing so many clothes?” She tugged at her pink blouse, revealing the camisole underneath.
Milton sighed deeply and frowned.
How was he supposed to focus on driving when she was like this? It was very risky.
“No, I’m not hot. Sit still. I’m driving,” he said firmly.
