Milton then cautiously rose from the bed, stretching his limbs. He was almost capable of walking unaided, with his right arm resting on his shoulder for support. It was a minor inconvenience.
Milton threw a casual glance at Candice, gesturing toward the clothes sent by Jarrod. There was a set for her as well. “You should freshen up. There’s a shower here. After that, we can leave.”
Once again, Candice was left dumbstruck.
She knew Milton was not fond of the hospital environment, but that he concerned himself over whether she had fresh clothes was unexpected. Candice had had her fill.
Unable to voice her grievances toward the injured Milton, she resigned herself to the situation, turning to enter the private bathroom in the ward.
Milton took the initiative to pull out the IV line, making an attempt to navigate a few paces within his hospital room.
His legs were unscathed, yet the brain damage from the car crash filled him with a nauseating vertigo. However, it was endurable. His spinal column bore some injuries too, necessitating a nearly imperceptible supportive brace around his neck, impeding his ability to swivel his head.
A muttered curse slipped from Milton’s lips. He found the sensation of powerlessness quite displeasing.
He meandered towards the door, using his uninjured left arm to swing it open, craving the rejuvenating freshness of outdoor air. The room felt overly confined.
Just as he was about to step out, Greyson came into view, striding toward him with a medical report clutched in his hand.
The sight of Milton left Greyson momentarily dumbfounded.

You’ve sustained skull and spine injuries, fractured ribs, lung contusion and swelling, and a dislocated right arm. And here you are, thinking about leaving the hospital! But hey, that’s none of my business. Here’s your diagnosis report.”
The crash had caused the airbag to deploy, forcefully striking Milton’s chest wall, leading to fractured ribs and lung damage. Moreover, the abrupt halt during the accident caused his brain to slam into his skull, resulting in cerebral trauma, dizziness, and vomiting. Mobility normally required several days, at least.
Yet, there stood Milton, clear-headed and resilient. It was unmistakably apparent that his tenacity and tolerance were exceptional.
Milton accepted the diagnosis report with his left hand, tucking it into his pocket, unread.
“I understand that you have your reasons, but it’s important to consider Candice’s well-being. Due to her slight concussion, it’s necessary for her to remain in the hospital and be closely monitored for a couple of days.” Greyson’s voice turned icy. “You have no right to make the call for her.”
