Chapter 38

Chapter 38:
Candice was practically dragged down the corridor and brought to a stop at the end of it.
“Candice, what do you want?” Greyson fixed a cold stare on her and demanded.
“What do you think I want, Mr. Harman?” Candice shook her hand a couple of times, trying to break free from his grasp, but to no avail.
“Please don’t hinder my work,” she said, clearly unhappy with the situation.
“Work? You mean your work is to take revenge on me? Did you do it intentionally?” Greyson was fuming, especially since he knew that Candice was aware of how much he cared about Harmony Hospital.
“Ha ha. Mr. Harman, don’t speak so highly of yourself.” Candice smirked.
She could see that Greyson was furious, which was a rare sight. She had never seen him that angry.
He was even more enraged than when he thought Candice kidnapped Madilyn.
Just as Greyson was about to respond, the elevator door near them chimed.
The door opened and someone they never expected walked out. It was Madilyn.
Greyson’s frown deepened as he saw her. “What are you here for? Isn’t everything messy enough?” he grumbled, clearly annoyed by her unexpected appearance.
Madilyn was taken aback but quickly explained, “Auntie asked me to come and have a look. She cares about you. Is everything okay?”
Madilyn noticed Candice standing there and wondered why. She quickly realized what was happening when she saw what Candice wore.
She then pointed at her and asked, “You’re the attorney hired by Universe Financial Group, right?”
Candice stared at Madilyn coldly, surprised to see her at such a crucial negotiation. It was evident that Greyson had been spoiling her more and more lately.
Then she jerked Greyson’s hand away and said, “Please show me some respect. I need to get back to work.”
Greyson, upset, punched the wall in frustration. The uneven diatom ooze wall scraped his knuckles, leaving a bloody mark.
Madilyn quickly expressed concern. “Rey, you’re hurt!”
Then she turned to Candice and cursed, “Bitch! Rey cares about Harmony Hospital more than anything, and you know it. Yet you went ahead and accepted a commission from Universe Financial Group? How could you? How heartless of you!”
Deep down, Madilyn was ecstatic. She felt that Candice was only making herself look bad, giving her more chances to become Mrs. Harman. Feigning tears, Madilyn continued, “It’s all my fault. Take it out on me. Don’t hurt Rey. I’ll apologize to you. How could you take away the hospital Rey loves the most?”

Candice was not amused by Madilyn’s theatrics. She ignored her, smiled, and walked back to the meeting room without a glance back.
Greyson followed, his expression stern.
Just as Madilyn was about to enter the room, Greyson blocked her with one arm and said nonchalantly, “Wait outside.”
With that, he slammed the door shut.
Madilyn was nearly knocked over by the door.
She was so angry she stamped her feet in frustration. Didn’t she deserve to be there?
In the near future, she’d be the hostess of Harman Pharma and involved in all the important decision-making processes. Humph!
When Candice and Greyson returned to the meeting room, Healy still had his legs crossed.
“What’s the matter, Mr. Harman? Trying to poach my attorney? You do know that’s against business ethics, right? Besides, the contract terms are right here. Even if I have to hire another lawyer, the outcome will be the same.”
He then sat up and taunted, “Harman Pharma is doing well lately, and the profits are significant. Mr. Harman, are you obsessed with the hospital?”
“I need to get back the hospital. Let’s renegotiate. Name your price.”
Greyson tossed the contract onto the table and said, “I know you just want to make a profit from Harmony Hospital. So, how much do you want? In fact, having money in hand is the most reasonable thing. You don’t have to wait.”
