Chapter 663
Chapter 663:
Candice glanced at the road before suggesting, “Why not head home first? Or maybe we could go straight to the restaurant?”
“Okay,” Milton agreed.
“But…” Candice gestured at her clothes. “I can’t possibly dine in my lawyer’s robe, can I? How odd would that be?”
Milton pointed to the back seat. “I brought a dress for you. You can change into it later.”
“What? You expect me to change in the car?” Candice was taken aback, surprised that he had even thought to bring a dress for her. But how was she supposed to change in the car?
“I have a private garage at the upscale Japanese restaurant we’re heading to. Don’t worry. You’ll have your privacy; no one will see you,” Milton assured her.
Candice was left speechless.
Even if no one else could see her, what about him? How could she change her clothes in front of him? She was wearing nothing more than underwear underneath. It would be akin to being completely bare before him.
At the thought, she couldn’t help but swallow, her face flushing even more.
However, Milton seemed oblivious to her discomfort. He changed the topic. “The trial is over. Your mission has been completed. Next, the Royal Garden Corporation will initiate the acquisition. The acquisition price is expected to be very low, which will significantly benefit the group. I intend to give you some shares of Warren Building Materials.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Candice declined, “No, I don’t want any.”
Milton raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
“I have no interest in these matters, nor do I wish to manage a company. I’m a lawyer. I’ve been swamped with your lawsuits and disputes. How will I find time for anything else?” Candice responded while organizing her bag and placing it at her feet. Her tone was light, her expression unperturbed.

Milton glanced at her, somewhat taken aback. He anticipated her refusal, but her indifference still surprised him. She must understand what the shares implied. In the future, the shares of Royal Garden Corporation, post-acquisition by Warren Building Materials, were bound to multiply in value. She was indeed unlike most women.
Checking her watch, Candice proposed, “Actually, there’s no need for a celebratory dinner today. There’s nothing to celebrate. Let’s just eat quickly. I still have documents to review and need to submit them to the prosecutor’s office as soon as possible.”
Milton advised, “You can tackle that tomorrow. After a long day, you must be exhausted. Get some rest. Make sure you head to bed early tonight.”
At the mention of bed, Candice stiffened.
As if recalling something, Candice slowly turned to face Milton, studying him carefully before asking, “Well, shouldn’t you be moving out today? After all… The threat has been neutralized.” With Corless abruptly arrested, no one could harm her any longer.
