Chapter 947
Chapter 953:
At that moment, nothing else mattered. She just needed the reassurance that he was unharmed.
But Milton’s reaction was far from what she expected. He pursed his lips, his gaze holding a mix of emotions, yet he remained speechless. Then, a soft, feminine voice echoed from behind him, bearing a coquettish charm. “Mr. Lopez, who is it?”
Candice was stunned.
Why the hell was there a woman in his room?
As the soft murmur of approaching footsteps drew near, Candice’s heart pounded like a drum in her chest.
Through the crack of the door, she caught sight of a familiar face.
It was Kori!
Her astonishment knew no bounds. How on earth could Kori be connected to Milton?
Candice couldn’t fathom this improbable scenario. Back in middle school, Kori was like a shadow, never having her own opinions, merely following the lead of Cathy and Alta. Although she didn’t directly harm Candice, she didn’t stand up for her either.
That made her one of the trio responsible for Candice’s past bullying.
It was inconceivable that Milton wasn’t aware of this.
Kori, a petite and pretty woman, had apparently found her way into show business, though she lacked the resources and connections to become famous despite her father owning Gilmore Cruise and her hailing from a wealthy family.
So, what could possibly explain Kori’s presence in Milton’s room?
Their paths had never crossed before, making it utterly unbelievable.
Finally, Milton broke the silence.
He gave Kori an icy glance before telling her, “Go back to the room. I have something for her.”

“Of course,” Kori nodded obediently and retreated into the suite.
Milton’s eyes now settled on Candice.
She stood there, soaked and disheveled, her makeup ruined by the rain, and her wet hair clinging to her face.
It resembled the scene of their meeting in the heavy downpour, a moment etched in their memories forever.
Had he only opened the car window that night, he would have recognized her instantly.
But those moments had long passed.
And then, he said, his tone ice-cold, “What brings you here?”
Candice found herself momentarily speechless. It had been a while since she had seen this cold, indifferent, and distant side of him. It was as though he had transformed into a completely different person—not the Milton she once knew.
Never in her wildest dreams could she have imagined him being with another woman, especially during the time they should have been celebrating their engagement.
