Chapter 699
Chapter 699:
One day, Candice resolved to return to her job at Hope Law Firm.
That morning, just before leaving the house, she received a sizable package via express delivery. Upon opening it, she discovered an entire collection of dresses, professional attire, and exquisite leather bags.
While still feeling puzzled, she received a video call on her phone. It was Milton.
Hesitating briefly, she answered.
Milton, looking refreshed, saw Candice in a black suit and asked, “Are you heading to the law firm today? Don’t you need more rest?”
“Yes. I’m going to work today,” Candice replied. Having been on a three-day break, she could no longer postpone her work.
“Did you get the clothes and bags?” Milton asked. “Did you send them here? No wonder I couldn’t find any sender’s information. Why did you deliver clothes to me? My house is practically a warehouse for clothing. I can’t wear them all, let alone find room for each item.”
Candice, unable to contain her frustration, voiced her complaint. “But I genuinely don’t need more!”
Milton, unfazed by her protest, made a mocking knocking gesture toward the screen. “Get rid of any out-of-season clothes. Every quarter, the Royal Garden Corporation hosts a special preview showcasing the latest designs and new products. These exclusive items are solely featured in advertisements and not yet available for purchase anywhere. I’ll arrange for a delivery to your doorstep.”
Candice’s frustration only deepened. “But I really don’t need any more,” she stressed, her tone thick with exasperation.
Milton, however, remained unfazed. “In ten minutes, you’ll find a navy blue velvet suit from the new collection. Wear it and show it to me. This ensemble is perfect for your visit to the law firm today. Your current attire lacks spirit; it’s simply unfitting.”
“I…” Candice started to protest, but the icy expression on his face through the screen silenced her.

Without saying another word, she retrieved the navy blue velvet suit from the box and resigned herself to the task of changing into it.
He was growing more overbearing by the day, dictating her wardrobe choices for outings. And yet, she always found herself giving in.
The fabric of the outfit was incredibly soft, almost like wearing nothing, and the deep midnight blue was a specially customized hue that reminded her of a cold, starry night sky. The attire was simple yet undeniably trendy.
Once she changed, she grabbed her phone.
Curving her lips in discontent, she muttered, “There. I’m leaving now.”
Milton’s voice rang through the phone with his next command: “Place the phone on the shelf and step back a bit. I need a full view.”
Reluctantly, Candice placed her phone on the shelf and took a few steps back to ensure her entire outfit was visible on camera.
After inspecting the outfit, Milton offered his critique. “The design is too subdued. It doesn’t accentuate your allure. Well, make do with it for today. Dispose of the suit upon your return.”
