Chapter 667
Chapter 667:
A knock on the door finally stirred Candice from her solitude. After all, she couldn’t monopolize a public restroom forever.
Emerging from her refuge, she murmured an apology to the waiting person. “I’m sorry.”
She then made her way down the corridor toward the private room Milton had reserved.
With every step, her legs felt like jelly. He acted as if nothing had happened, but she struggled with how to face him.
Usually reserved and demure, she had done all kinds of bold things after her encounter with Milton.
After she attended to his physical needs, he even had the audacity to whisper in her ear, “I’m not finished having fun. We’ll continue tonight.”
A hand flew to her forehead as heat scorched her cheeks. Lost in a whirlwind of thoughts, she didn’t notice people approaching until she bumped into them.
“My apologies,” Candice blurted out.
Lifting her gaze, she found herself facing three women.
Her heart skipped a beat.
The trio consisted of Erica, Sigrid, and an elegant lady who appeared to be around fifty. The lady took great care of her skin, and her distinct features resembled Sigrid’s.
The recognition was instantaneous—this must be Sigrid’s mother. She had heard Milton mention that Sigrid’s mother had flown to Ploville from abroad and planned to have dinner with Erica a couple of days ago.
Whether this was a rescheduled dinner or a new one was unknown to Candice.
She knew from her Internet research that Sigrid’s mother was Paisley Olson, born into an illustrious family wielding significant influence in the art world. She commanded a network of auction houses, galleries, art collections, and countless jewelry sources. The longstanding friendship between Paisley’s and Erica’s families had resulted in a close bond between them.

The woman Candice had just bumped into was Paisley.
Quickly stepping back, she apologized once more, “I’m sorry. I was distracted.”
She then turned her attention to Erica and greeted her politely,
“Mrs. Lopez.”
She offered Sigrid a courteous nod.
The sight of Candice seemed to darken Sigrid’s mood. She was well aware of Milton’s absence and his new role as Candice’s protector. She knew all too well what that implied.
Her knowledge extended to the trial earlier that day. Damn it! Candice was a force to be reckoned with!
Sigrid donned her aristocratic persona. “Fancy running into you here. Celebrating your trial victory with your team? The buzz about your success is quite the talk—a perfect combination of fame and fortune.”
Paisley’s piercing gaze scanned Candice, her expression unreadable. So, this was the infamous Candice, known to her only through Sigrid’s stories.
