With a swift motion, Madilyn’s fingernail left a bloody scratch on Greyson’s handsome face, a red stain standing out on his pure white shirt.
Madilyn was in shock, staring at her bloodstained finger. Who did she just scratch? Greyson?!
Unexpectedly, Greyson had blocked the attack aimed at Candice. He was currently holding her tightly like a precious treasure. Madilyn’s eyes turned red with jealousy.
The police rushed to restrain Madilyn from causing further harm. Despite the burning sensation on his face, Greyson ignored it and focused on Candice. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
Candice shook her head, looking up to see the blood on Greyson’s face. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.
Greyson pulled Candice into a hug, apologizing, “I’m sorry. I won’t let anyone hurt you again.”
Candice shuddered and pushed him away, taking a step back. She didn’t want any physical contact with him. Her voice was cold as she said, “Thanks, but you don’t have to help me again. I don’t need it.”
Greyson’s hands hung awkwardly by his sides as he was pushed away.
“Can we talk, Candice?” he asked softly, hoping for a chance to explain himself.
Candice didn’t refuse.
Just then, several police officers escorted Madilyn and Rachel forward, and one of them turned to Greyson and said, “Mr. Harman, please come with us. You need to explain what happened tonight.”
Greyson frowned. He had to visit the police station tonight.
“There might be a mix of red wine and drug in Madilyn’s fingernails. Please test it. I’ll come with you,” he informed the officer after a moment of thought.
Madilyn’s heart sank as she looked at Greyson with despair. She couldn’t believe that he would testify against her. More than ten years of love vanished in an instant. All the things she had done for him felt worthless. He had abandoned her so ruthlessly.

The policeman nodded and said, “Thank you for your cooperation.”
Greyson turned around and addressed Candice, “Let’s talk tomorrow. Don’t worry about giving your statement at the police station tonight. You’re in shock. Get some rest first. I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
Candice remained silent, knowing that as a victim, she could give her statement later.
After a moment of thought, she finally nodded and handed Greyson a wet tissue from her bag. “You’re bleeding. Wipe it off,” she said.
Seeing her soften, Greyson relaxed and took the tissue, gently wiping the blood from his face. “Alright, it’s settled. I’ll leave now,” he said softly before catching up with the police officers.
As they arrived at the entrance of the banquet hall on the first floor, the ambassador’s wife was already waiting for them.
Upon seeing the Yamonia ambassador’s wife, Greyson immediately bowed to apologize. “I’m sorry, my lady. Tonight is your birthday party, but it was ruined by a chain of unpleasant events. This is my fault. I will try to make up for your loss.”
