Chapter 490
Chapter 490:
Milton raised an eyebrow and asked, “Are you interested?”
In truth, Milton had discovered that the person responsible for locking him and Candice in the cold storage was Cathy. Though it had happened long ago, he was determined to exact revenge on her.
Candice frowned. “At present, you don’t have enough reason to purchase it. It would be a significant loss for you.”
Milton’s response was cold and calculated. “No one can stop me from doing what I want to do,” he said, meeting her gaze sharply. “I will get what I want.”
Candice felt a flutter of unease. There was an underlying implication in his words that she couldn’t fully grasp, but she knew enough to be wary.
She shook her head, trying to push the thought from her mind.
She said earnestly, “Perhaps I can be of help.”
Milton leaned back in his chair, propping his chin with his hand. “Please, do go on,” he said, his voice laced with interest.
“Coincidentally, I recently received a legal aid case,” Candice began, her voice measured and controlled. “The victim is named Belinda Haynes, and she was violated by Corless. While the physical injury was minor, the psychological trauma has been immense. Despite this, Corless has hired an expensive team of lawyers to clear his name of any suspicion.”
Candice paused, letting the weight of her words sink in. “As it stands, I am Belinda’s attorney. If I can prove Corless guilty, he will undoubtedly be jailed. It will be a massive scandal for Warren Building Materials. The company’s reputation will be severely damaged, making it the perfect time for a justifiable purchase at a much lower price. It’s a good opportunity.”
As Candice finished, she noticed Milton looking at her with an unusual expression.
It suddenly occurred to her that she had been so focused on describing Belinda’s case that she had forgotten she had pressed the same charge against Milton not long ago.
A flush of embarrassment rose to her cheeks, and she quickly turned her head to the side, coughing to cover her discomfort.

After a long moment, Milton lowered his head and picked up a pen to sign the additional evidence Candice had brought.
He handed the file back and said, “In that case, you will be responsible for the purchase of Warren Building Materials. Come here promptly at noon and after work every day. Be mentally prepared to work overtime on weekends.”
Candice was rendered speechless.
She would have to work even on weekends. The implications of what she had just agreed to were beginning to sink in.
“But I have many other things to do,” she protested.
Milton glanced at Candice seriously, emphasizing his response. “That’s why I won’t take up your work time,” he said, leaving Candice even more speechless.
It seemed he intended to use all of her personal time.
“It’s settled then. You can leave now,” Milton said abruptly, pushing all the documents toward her. “Take all the basic materials you’ll need with you. You can drop by my office to review the rest of the materials.”
