Chapter 843
Chapter 846:
Her humiliation was immense, but she wouldn’t take this lying down.
After all, the Olson family was not one to be trifled with.
Picking herself up, Sigrid hastily left the office.
Slamming the door, she refused to endure any more of Milton’s softness towards Candice. Despite being awkwardly dismissed, she vowed to return one day!
The office outside was in disarray. The secretaries at their desks were in tears, hurriedly packing their belongings.
One secretary wiped her tears and asked in a quivering voice, “Why did Mr. Lopez dismiss us out of the blue? He seemed fine when I arrived in the morning. He even seemed cheerful.”
“Axell said that we got fired because we gossiped behind Mr. Lopez’s back,” another secretary responded.
Blair remained silent, finally understanding the situation. She had backed the wrong person, assuming that Sigrid, a lady from a wealthy family, would surely become the hostess of the Royal Garden Corporation. Little did she expect that Milton intended to marry Candice. They had all misunderstood, thinking that Candice, who was merely a lawyer, was Milton’s plaything.
Milton, despite his calm demeanor, had made a bold move.
It seemed silence could indeed be deafening.
Blair regretted the loss of her good job, as she was the sole breadwinner of her family. Her future was now uncertain.
In his office, after calling Candice, Milton’s mood lifted.
He stood by the window, gazing at the bustling cars passing by, lost in contemplation.
He recalled Raul’s warning about Sigrid’s unexpected career shift to a designer and her decision to work for the Royal Garden Corporation. Back then, Milton needed a designer and didn’t give it much thought.

He hadn’t foreseen such a massive misunderstanding.
He controlled half the business world; why would he need a matrimonial alliance? What a ludicrous thought!
All he needed was Candice’s acceptance of his marriage proposal.
Milton sipped his coffee, the bitter brew matching his stern expression. Candice had been skillfully avoiding the topic of their marriage certificate. It seemed he had to resolve the issue of his mother pushing her downstairs urgently. Otherwise, it would continue to be a sore spot between them. The fact that he couldn’t pressure Candice further frustrated Milton.
Meanwhile, Candice lingered at the West Police Station for a bit longer.
After hanging up on Milton, she busied herself compiling her statement. Milton’s inexplicable call had left her puzzled, but she had agreed to head home early that evening.
