Chapter 909
Chapter 913:
Milton was left speechless by her accusation.
All he wanted was to hold her close.
Why was she so worked up?
On Monday morning, it was just dawn.
The soft light of early morning peeked through the partially drawn curtains, casting a delicate glow across the dim room.
Candice slowly awakened, her eyes fluttering open. She guessed it was around six o’clock.
After a restless night of tossing and turning, she felt a slight sheen of sweat on her back. Restless and anxious, she had been eagerly awaiting an email—one that had yet to arrive.
Sensing a foreboding presence, she reached over and picked up her phone from the bedside table.
A tiny red dot caught her attention—an unread message that had arrived in the middle of the night.
Candice’s heart skipped a beat. An unexplained premonition pressed heavily on her chest.
Not wanting to wake Milton, who lay peacefully beside her, she extended her trembling fingers toward the screen. But her hands were shaking so much that she couldn’t accurately tap the app icons.
Summoning her courage, she took a deep breath and finally opened the email.
The words “Identification Center” appeared boldly across the top.
The sender was, indeed, the identification center. It seemed they had managed to fix their machine and had quickly processed the DNA results, sending them without delay.
As she opened the message, a wave of fear surged through her, causing her to instinctively close her eyes, unwilling to face the contents.
𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲:
With her eyes shut, she scrolled quickly through the message—as if hoping the final verdict would magically appear at the bottom, sparing her the suspense.
After a moment of hesitation, she finally found the courage to open her eyes.
The DNA sibling test results clearly stated: no kinship existed between her and Milton.
The examiner’s signature marked the bottom of the report.
Upon reading that line, Candice felt something inside her release.
Her fingers loosened their grip on the phone, and she exhaled a deep breath filled with tension.
A palpable weariness overtook her, her entire being surrendered to exhaustion, almost sinking into the softness of the bed as her heart pounded with an accelerated rhythm.
Eagerly, she scrolled to the beginning of the email, meticulously reading each word, ensuring every detail aligned with her expectations.
Even her own name received a thorough examination.
