Aiken stood up hurriedly and explained, “I’m sorry, Miss Blake. This is entirely my fault. But Mr. Lopez had the preemptive right to buy the house. We didn’t break any rules. Mr. Lopez owns the land surrounding the villa that is being redeveloped, so he has the first right to purchase the villa.”
Candice was stunned to learn this.
It turned out Milton was the one developing the villa’s surrounding area.
At that moment, Milton looked at Candice and grinned, “If you want that property, you’re going to have to deal with me. I’ve bought all the land around it, and I’m planning to turn the area into Ploville’s high-end residential, leisure, and commercial complex.”
Completely ignoring Milton, Candice asked Marlin, “How much did he offer? I’m willing to buy the villa at a higher price plus liquidated damages.”

At that moment, Aiken interjected, “Do you two know each other? How about we give you some time to speak in private?”
He had dealt with enough people to sense that Mr. Lopez and Miss Blake had some sort of history.
Candice was familiar with the law and knew it would indeed be difficult for any agency to alter the terms of a contract once it was signed.
At present, if she really wanted to buy her family’s villa, the only way to do it was to reach an agreement with Milton.
“Milton, I don’t care what you intend to do with the villa’s surrounding area. It’s not my business. Just sell me the property I want. I want the villa,” Candice declared, clenching her fists.
“Why do you want that villa so much? If I sell it to you, it’ll ruin my development plans.” Milton pointed toward the land and continued, “My blueprint envisions a hundred-story, high-class residential building, next to all kinds of commercial and supporting facilities. I also plan to build a private high school there. The villa’s location will become the musical fountain in the central garden.”

“Your villa? Does that piece of property hold special meaning to you or something?” Milton asked, crossing his arms over his chest, standing up, and walking toward Candice.
