Lamont cowered behind Hutton, consumed by fear and avoiding eye contact with Rachel.
“Bah! Coward!” Rachel spat at Lamont.
Then, turning her attention to Hutton, she voiced her complaints. “And you, old man, I have faithfully served you for countless years. You’ve treated me as nothing more than a maid, never acknowledging my place as a member of the Harman family. From now on, you’ll have to rely solely on your worthless son to care for you! I doubt you can live well without me!”
“You’re nothing but a vicious bitch!” Hutton seethed with rage, pounding his chest. He exchanged a knowing glance with one of the servants.
Swiftly, the servants fetched all of Rachel’s packed belongings. “Get rid of all her things. From this day forward, she is no longer welcome in the Harman family. She’s banned from our home forever.”
“Yes.” The servants promptly threw Rachel’s luggage down the high steps outside the grand hall. A resounding crash echoed through the air.
A suitcase tumbled and rolled down the steps before finally coming to rest on the ground.
The scene reminded Rachel of the time when she had thrown Candice’s luggage out of the Harman family’s house.
