Chapter 258
Chapter 258:
“Wow. Your status is really something, Milton. When I want to eat here, I have to make a reservation at least a month in advance.” Bettina gave Milton a thumbs-up and added, “That’s money talking. It’s really extraordinary.”
Candice really wanted to cover Bettina’s mouth with her hand. She couldn’t help feeling humiliated as Bettina showered Milton with compliments.
As they walked down the corridor to their private room, they unexpectedly bumped into a familiar man.
He was dressed in a dark gray suit and wore black-rimmed glasses. His face was handsome, and he carried a gentle aura.
It was none other than Bart.
“Hey, cousin. What a coincidence. Look at you with two beautiful ladies on your flanks.”
Hearing that, Milton frowned and pulled Candice behind him. He responded through gritted teeth, “Hello, Bart. I didn’t expect to see you here.”
Seeing how Milton protected Candice, Bart grinned. He assumed it was safe to say he had found Milton’s weakness.
Looking at the man in front of them, Candice was lost in thought. Since he called Milton “cousin,” he must be the son of Milton’s aunt. So was this Bart, the man recently promoted to vice president of the Royal Garden Corporation?
It was her first time meeting him.
Judging from the tension between Milton and Bart, Candice guessed they didn’t have a good relationship.
At that moment, Candice didn’t notice Bettina’s face suddenly change. The smile faded, replaced by a scowl.
“Betty, is that you? Long time no see,” Bart said with a bright smile, extending his hand to Bettina.
Bettina tightened her grip on her purse, her eyes cold as ice.
“Betty?” Candice was stunned. Did Bart just call Bettina by her nickname? Did they know each other? And did they have a special relationship?

Candice watched Bettina carefully. Bettina was always optimistic and wore a big smile, but Candice had never seen her look so cold.
She recalled Bettina once mentioning a boyfriend she planned to introduce to her after dating for a while.
But Bettina never brought him around, and when Candice asked, Bettina said they had already broken up.
Was Bart then Bettina’s mysterious ex-boyfriend?
Bettina stared at Bart’s extended hand and clenched her fists. In the end, she said nothing and walked past him without looking at him.
After Bettina left him hanging in front of Candice and Milton, Bart stiffened, but he didn’t appear to be embarrassed at all. He just put on a strange expression.
He lowered his head and lightly chuckled. Then, he turned to Bettina and shouted, “Are you still mad at me, Betty? I’ll call you, okay?”
Then, he stood aside to make way for Milton. “I don’t want to hold you any longer. Please go ahead to your private room. I have to go as well. I happen to have a social engagement. Excuse me.”
