Chapter 880
Chapter 883:
Raul smiled and replied, “Thank you, Mr. Cohen. I will follow your teachings.”
Bettina forced a polite smile in response to the mention of children by the two older gentlemen, while Bart’s expression grew increasingly uncomfortable.
Finally realizing Bart’s presence, Boden approached him and affectionately patted his shoulder. “I recall that you’re older than Raul. Look at you, still without a girlfriend. Hurry up and don’t fall behind,” Boden urged.
Bart’s lips quivered with anger, but he chose to remain silent. Anson then pulled Boden away, suggesting they go. “Well, let’s go have a look over there. We shouldn’t impede the young people’s pursuit of love,” he said.
“Indeed, let’s go. The champagne awaits,” Boden exclaimed, pointing towards a nearby cart carrying an assortment of champagne glasses filled with sparkling amber liquid. The sight was a captivating mound, akin to a magnificent and alluring hill.
Boden and Anson departed together, leaving behind only Bettina, Raul, and Bart.
Bettina wanted to avoid Bart, so she gently tugged at Raul’s sleeve and whispered,
“Let’s leave.”
“Wait!” Bart halted them, his icy stare fixed on Raul.
“Raul, I fail to comprehend. What exactly do you do at the Royal Garden Corporation? You follow Milton around like his lackey. How much does he pay you to work for him? Aren’t you ashamed, lingering here? Don’t you have any personal wealth? Go back to the Hinks family, Raul. Don’t forget—your surname is Hinks, not Lopez.”
Before Raul could respond, Bart continued,
“Ah, I see. You’re a coward. Your family members are rivals, and their competition makes you uncomfortable. So you hide here at the Royal Garden Corporation, running away from everything. What a coward.”
Bart had always maintained a facade of kindness and tolerance, but now his words were exceptionally harsh, leaving no room for reconciliation.
𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵:
Bettina was taken aback by his audacity. She knew her presence was provoking him, and each word he threw at Raul hit a sensitive nerve. She cast a worried glance at Raul.
To her surprise, Raul remained composed, showing no trace of anger.
He wrapped his arm around Bettina and clicked his tongue, remarking,
“Mr. Glyn, as the company’s vice president, you truly have failed to discern my true nature.”
Bart’s expression shifted.
Raul casually swept his hair away from his forehead and continued,
“We only live in one home, sleep in one bed, and marry one woman in this life. No matter how wealthy you are, you can’t take a penny into the coffin. I don’t know what’s been occupying your mind. It’s unwise to cling to excessive greed and desire. Eventually, you’ll lose everything you once owned, and the people around you will vanish too.
What’s the point of a lonely life in the end? Look at me—I’m enjoying every moment.”
