Chapter 935
Chapter 941:
Although Milton had never shown any interest in women, thousands of girls had a huge crush on him. Young girls dreamed and fantasized about him. And today, he was going to get engaged. Many hearts would be broken when the engagement was announced.
Candice slowly got to her feet and looked at herself in the mirror. She turned to the side, and the hem of her skirt fluttered gracefully. Candice had never dressed up like this before, and now that she looked at herself, she realized just how beautiful she looked. As she thought about the upcoming engagement party, she couldn’t help but feel nervous.
Her heart started to beat faster, and her mouth grew dry.
Candice gulped and said, “I’m thirsty. Can I get some water? Oh, but will my lipstick get ruined?”
The makeup artist smiled and replied, “No, no. Go ahead and drink water. I only use the best products, and your non-transferable lipstick is top of the line.”
Catherine chimed in, “Miss Blake, you don’t have to worry about a thing. We will accompany you to the party. So if the dress or makeup needs any adjustments or touch-ups, we’ll take care of it for you.”
Candice sighed in relief.
As Catherine reassured her, the makeup artist had already turned around to get her a glass of water.
Candice had kept it ready beforehand on the coffee table.
The pretty-colored glass was filled with warm water.
She hastily reached out for it.
However, the glass slipped from her grasp and shattered on the floor. Candice wasn’t sure if it was because of her sweaty palms or trembling fingers.
When the glass fell, the warm water splashed on her dress, her feet, and the floor.

Horrified, she immediately bent down to clear the broken glass pieces. Catherine tried to stop her. “Miss Blake, it’s okay. Don’t move. I’ll deal with it.”
But it was too late.
As soon as Candice touched one of the glass pieces, she felt a sharp pain. She hissed and frowned as she looked at her hand. There was a cut on her ring finger, and red blood oozed out.
Candice quickly moved her hand away, but it was too late.
There was blood on her dress, her shoes, and the floor.
Catherine quickly wrapped Candice’s finger with tissue.
Candice was stunned. It wasn’t the pain that worried her now. She continued to look at the blood on her dress, frowning.
She was about to get engaged. And she had accidentally cut her ring finger—the same finger she was supposed to wear her engagement ring on. For some reason, her heart filled with an ominous premonition.
