Chapter 599
Chapter 599:
Deep within, Candice felt the anger and jealousy bubbling up inside her. It was a novel feeling, unlike anything she had experienced when seeing Greyson and Madilyn together. Her infatuation with Milton had blinded her, and now all she craved was distance from him!
In the midst of her musings, her phone chimed twice.
It was a WhatsApp message.
Unable to resist, she retrieved her phone and saw that the sender was Milton.
“Tell me where you are right now. You cannot fathom the consequences of provoking me!”
The message struck a warning chord, his words dripping with intimidation.
Candice curled her lips. That was so like him!
However, moments later, another message from Milton arrived, bearing a softer tone.
“I fear for your safety. Please don’t make me worry. Let me know your whereabouts.”
A flicker of emotion stirred within Candice, and, succumbing to her subconscious, she replied, “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. See you tomorrow in Ploville.”
After sending the message, she tossed her phone back into her bag and silenced it.
She didn’t want to be tempted to read his messages and risk revealing her whereabouts, potentially leading to an evening at the Vital Hotel and the consequences that would entail. A blush colored her cheeks as thoughts of that scenario crossed her mind.
Taking a deep breath, she regained her composure and resumed her search. The house consisted of two expansive floors, and she was certain there was no basement.
Her initial sweep of the first floor yielded no results, prompting her to ascend to the second floor and conduct a careful search. Although she stumbled upon women’s sleepwear, stockings, bikini swimsuits, shower supplies, and various utensils, nothing stood out as significant. There was no trace of surveillance equipment within the premises. She couldn’t help but feel disappointed.

Had she been mistaken all along? Was there truly nothing to be found?
Returning to the first floor, she glanced at her watch.
Time was running out.
She should call a taxi and leave the resort.
However, she couldn’t bear to give up. Her intuition had seldom failed her. If Corless brought girls to this resort regularly, there had to be evidence lurking somewhere! After the incident, the cops had shown up but had only done a light check. Though they searched, they might not have been as thorough as she was.
What had she overlooked?
There was no way she was going back empty-handed!
If she did, the upcoming trial would tilt unfavorably for Belinda, and all her previous efforts would be in vain.
If she let go of Corless now, she wouldn’t likely have another opportunity to deal with him and Cathy for a long time.
