Chapter 24:
As Milton took his seat, he hastily signed the document he had abandoned moments before.
Raul pushed the signed document toward Candice and asked, “Candy, in the event of a complaint case regarding the falling phone, would you do us the honor of representing us too?”
Raul shot a scowl at Milton, who didn’t seem to care about the potential consequences of dropping something from the building.
“Okay.” Candice couldn’t help but chuckle at the situation. She knew she was more than capable of handling such a case.
Raul then cheekily suggested, “Perhaps you could be Mr. Lopez’s personal legal advisor, huh?”
With Milton’s troublesome character, he would always need legal help.
Raul needed assistance putting things in order.
Milton cast a cold gaze at Raul, wondering why he would ever need a private lawyer.
“I’m sorry, but we don’t offer those services,” Candice declined politely.
Bettina arrived then. “My apologies. There was heavy traffic. Sorry for my tardiness. You’ve signed the contract, right?”
Candice stood up and introduced the two men. “This is Mr. Milton Lopez, and this is Mr. Raul Hinks.”

Candice stood up and said, “Have a seat, Bettina. I must get going soon, so I think I’ll take the aisle seat.”

Just as she was about to sit down, she deliberately stretched out her foot, tripping Candice.
Candice lost her balance as she wasn’t paying attention.
She was about to fall into Milton.

Then he collapsed to the floor, still holding her.
In a strange twist of fate, their lips met briefly—but they separated just as quickly.

Milton felt as if an electric charge shot through his body from the unexpected contact.
They were so close that her beautiful, silky hair fell over his chest.

What was more, she had just kissed his lips momentarily.
Raul was bewildered. From his vantage point, he clearly saw that after they shook hands, Bettina had deliberately tripped Candice.
What the hell was going on?
Why couldn’t he understand the situation?
Bettina leaned back, grabbed a glass of juice, and began watching the chaos she had caused.
The uneasy moment lasted a little longer.
Finally, Milton broke the awkward silence.
