Chapter 793
Chapter 793:
Without stepping into the room, she noticed a discarded dress on the floor and a rumpled corner of the bed in her line of sight.
She knew instantly what had transpired.
With an awkward smile, she tried to lighten the moment. “Seems like my concerns were misplaced. You look perfectly fine.”
In the room, Candice was thrown into confusion upon hearing Erica’s voice. Although Milton had barred Erica from entering, it would be discourteous for Candice to continue hiding under the quilt, as it was her home and she was bound to be in the room.
But emerging from her cover without any clothing was unimaginable. She felt her sanity slipping. Why was she always caught in such awkward situations by Erica? This was the third instance of Erica encountering her in embarrassing moments. The first time, she had noticed a red mark on Candice’s neck. The second time, she discovered the disheveled living room. Now, Erica had literally caught her in bed.
Candice was drowned in embarrassment.
After a moment’s hesitation, Candice sat up, wrapped in the blanket, and offered a respectful greeting. “Mrs. Lopez, I…”
Milton interrupted Candice abruptly. “Stay put.”
Turning toward Erica, he voiced, “She can’t get out of bed and is really not in a state to meet with you. How about we talk outside?” Erica was caught off guard, dumbstruck.
Candice mirrored her response, equally speechless.
What was he talking about? He might as well not have said anything. It only made things more embarrassing. Candice was overwhelmed by awkwardness, feeling a hot flush spread through her body. She had no other choice but to conceal herself under the covers, not daring to face anyone.

In a shaky voice, Erica expressed, “I don’t have much to discuss. I haven’t seen you around lately. You’ve been absent from our group gatherings as well. I only learned about your car accident tonight, and out of concern, I rushed to see you.”
Her gaze rested on Milton’s right arm as she cautioned, “Recovery takes time, around a hundred days. Make sure to rest well.”
After a moment of hesitation, Erica cleared her throat and warned him, “Try to exhibit some self-control… a little, at least.”
Milton arched his eyebrows but chose to remain silent.
Hearing Erica’s words, Candice felt an additional layer of embarrassment. Milton was supposed to be resting after the accident, but instead… Candice was filled with regret. She suspected Erica’s opinion of her might have worsened. Candice had not only broken her promise but also overstepped boundaries.
With a sigh, Erica admitted, “I’m glad that you’re okay. I should be on my way now.”
