Chapter 43

Chapter 43:
“No way!” Healy exclaimed, hunching his shoulders. “I had no idea she was your personal attorney. Forget about it.”
No matter how much Healy clenched his teeth in frustration, he was powerless in that moment. Losing nearly three hundred million dollars paled in comparison to the consequences of offending Milton. After all, the Royal Garden Corporation was Universe Financial Group’s primary source of revenue.
At that moment, Candice dusted off her clothes and said, “The remaining matters are family matters. I’m out.” With that, she grabbed her bag and left the conference room.
Since Milton had entered, Greyson had remained silent. Their eyes met briefly; they had attended the same high school but were never friends. Greyson followed Candice out of the conference room, with Madilyn trailing behind him, knowing she couldn’t stop him.
Madilyn had no idea what had transpired in the conference room but could tell Greyson was troubled. She guessed it was either because of the failed negotiation or Candice’s humiliation of Greyson during the meeting. She saw this as a chance to scold Candice.
Milton glanced back at Greyson, who was rushing out the door, and then at the woman beside him.
Milton had met her before—he had even thrown her phone out of a restaurant the last time they met.
The memory of the night he accidentally walked into the wrong hotel room resurfaced. Could this woman be Greyson’s bride from that night?
Their connection seemed close, but she didn’t quite resemble the woman who had threatened to sue him during the torrential rain.
Still, upon further thought, she could very well be the one.
As soon as Milton thought this, he felt uneasy, as if he had come into contact with something filthy. His demeanor grew dark as he clenched his hands. He needed to figure out what had happened that night and fix it quickly. No matter the cost, he was determined to get rid of that woman.
Once everyone else had left, Milton threw a swift, unexpected punch at Healy. Healy was knocked to the floor before he could react, his head spinning and blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. Without hesitation, he begged for forgiveness, making no attempt to argue. “I apologize, Milton. I was completely wrong. I promise it won’t happen again!”
Milton grabbed several napkins and repeatedly wiped his fingers. “Please refrain from calling me by my first name. Quite frankly, you don’t deserve it!” He had just fiercely defended Candice, saving her from Healy’s attack.

Meanwhile, after leaving the conference room, Candice headed toward the front gate of Jenry Building. Greyson hurried after her. “Wait, I have to ask you something.”
Candice turned and replied flatly, “I have no answers for you.”
At that moment, Madilyn approached Greyson, gently squeezing his arm. “What is it, Rey? Has this woman done something to annoy you? I knew she would cause trouble the moment I saw her today.” She sneered at Candice and shouted, “Damn you, wretch! I’m going to tell Aunt that you’re the one who ruined Rey’s most important matter today.”
Candice sneered contemptuously. It was clear that Candice’s conversation with Healy had gone right over Madilyn’s head.
Greyson harshly shook off Madilyn’s hand. “Apologize.”
Madilyn glanced at Candice smugly and said, “Did you hear that? Apologize immediately!”
Greyson stared at Madilyn with a grim expression. “I am asking you to apologize.”
Madilyn looked incredulous.
For what reason was she supposed to apologize? And to whom was she to apologize?
Then Greyson repeated firmly, “I told you to apologize to her!”
What the hell! How could he demand that she apologize to Candice?
Madilyn’s gentle expression twisted into a menacing scowl.
