Chapter 500
Chapter 500:
She turned her gaze toward Greyson. “Do you really think all I want is the Blake Group? My parents are gone. What good is the Blake Group to me? Do you believe my only goal is to make money through the Blake Group? Can’t I support myself as a lawyer? Greyson, what I truly desire is justice for my parents! I want to know what happened to them and how they died! I want the truth!”
Rising abruptly from her seat, she exclaimed, “It doesn’t matter to me who acquires the Blake Group. What matters is that the Blake Group’s bankruptcy and my parents’ car accident happened in succession. It cannot be mere coincidence. From the beginning, it’s been a scheme—a massive scheme. Someone must have killed my parents! At this moment, I cannot reveal the result. I must first uncover the person responsible. If we act recklessly and alert our enemies, the mastermind behind it all will simply make Grady and Benson scapegoats. Then, I may never uncover the truth!”
Upon hearing this, Greyson reached out and held her wrist, gently pulling her closer.
“Take a deep breath and calm down. I understand now. I realize I didn’t think things through carefully enough.”
Candice sat back down, her anger leaving her breathless and unsettled.
As Greyson grasped her wrist, he felt the rapid beating of her heart. Seizing the opportunity, he subtly assessed her pulse.
Something was wrong. Her heart rate was irregular. This was the second time he had noticed an anomaly in her heartbeat.
“There seems to be an issue with your heartbeat, Candice. I think it’s important we take you to the hospital for a general check-up,” Greyson said with concern, holding Candice’s wrist. “Health should always be a top priority.”
His mind flashed back to the day Rachel had forcefully expelled Candice from the Harman family. Just like then, as he held her wrist, he noticed the abnormal rhythm of her heart. Not only did he detect premature beats, but also signs of atrial fibrillation. Since that day, he had been urging Candice to undergo a comprehensive examination. However, she was unwilling, and circumstances prevented him from arranging it for her. He had even scheduled a physical for her after the miscarriage, but she vanished from the hospital.

A lingering worry stayed with him, hinting at the possibility of a congenital heart issue. Yet, upon further thought, he doubted it. After all, she was young and appeared healthy most of the time. On two occasions, he had noticed premature beats during her emotional moments, but today he didn’t sense any signs of atrial fibrillation.
Determined, he gently restrained her, wanting to continue monitoring her heart rate and pulse. However, Candice managed to break free from his grip.
“Don’t you see that my heart is racing because of my emotions? Greyson, I’ve said what I needed to say today. Please, don’t bother me anymore. Allow me some peace and quiet, alright? I’ve made it clear we have no obligations toward each other.”
She stood up, intent on returning to her desk.
Greyson, reluctant to let her leave, used his natural physical advantage as a man.
He reached out, attempting to pull her into his embrace. To his surprise, she fell onto the sofa. In the process, her shoulders were exposed as he accidentally tugged at her clothing, causing the buttons on her chest to pop open.
