Chapter 158
Chapter 158:
Making a face, Candice replied, “Email it to me.”
“I don’t have one!” Milton shrugged.
Candice sneered, thinking he was joking. How could a big boss like him not have an email?
“Come on, friend me,” Milton said. “Or should I do it myself?”
Candice inhaled deeply. She decided against arguing with him in the car. Adding to the chaos was the last thing she wanted to do. Once she got the recording, she would immediately put him on her no-contact list.
Thus, she pulled out her phone, opened WhatsApp, and accepted his friend request.
Almost simultaneously, Milton sent the audio file to her. After sending it, he said, “If you blacklist me, I will destroy your house.”
Candice heard his warning only after she had saved the file. Righteous anger filled her eyes as she looked up. This guy was constantly threatening her with the property!
She shot him a glare, but Milton exuded such arrogance that she felt helpless.
She wanted to physically assault him so badly!
The rain had finally stopped beating down on the glass.
“Where are you going? I’ll drive you there,” Milton asked.
Candice said no and checked the time. “Just drop me off at the nearest metro stop. Thanks. I must attend to some business of a more formal kind.”
As Milton was about to continue speaking, his phone rang again. Raul’s name flashed on the screen.
“Milton, where the hell are you? Come back now. Something’s up! The major shareholders are holding an impromptu meeting. You need to be here quickly!” Raul’s tone was urgent.
Milton’s frown deepened. An impromptu meeting?
It seemed these shareholders had nothing better to do all day.

“On my way,” he replied curtly.
Without wasting time, Milton started the car and drove Candice to the nearest subway station.
But just as she was about to step out, he stopped her with one arm.
He pointed at her wet, nearly ruined shoes. “How can you work wearing those?”
Candice shuffled her feet uncomfortably. Whose fault was it? If he hadn’t insisted on dragging her to the lake and getting caught in the heavy rain, she wouldn’t be in this mess.
“Wait a minute,” Milton said, getting out of the car and walking to the trunk. The lid popped open with a click, and he retrieved a box before returning to the driver’s seat.
Candice looked at him in confusion.
He opened the box to reveal a pair of soft, white sheepskin shoes.
