Chapter 578
Chapter 578:
He answered promptly. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
“I’m at the eighth detention center of Ploville, and they won’t let me see my litigant. I need you to make a call for me. I don’t care what you have to do, but I must see her this morning,” Candice explained, her frustration evident in her tone.
Milton was initially taken aback, but then he chuckled and reassured Candice, “Don’t worry. Wait for my news.”
“I’ll have it sorted in ten minutes.”
“Did Jarrod send you there?” he inquired.
Candice answered, “Yes.”
“Alright then, I’ll take care of it,” Milton assured her before hanging up.
After the call, Candice felt a wave of regret wash over her. What had she done? She had called Milton for help as if it was his responsibility.
She sighed and shook her head, annoyed and confused. She should have sought Bettina’s assistance instead. Bettina might not have been able to resolve the matter that day, but she would have found a way for Candice to see Belinda by the day after tomorrow at the latest.
Why had she acted so recklessly and asked for Milton’s help? And why did she sound so coquettish while asking for help?
She felt foolish for behaving so irrationally.
As she berated herself, the phone at the detention center’s registry desk suddenly rang, breaking the silence. The police officer quickly answered it, standing up and bowing as he spoke into the receiver.
“Yes, I understand. I will take care of it. Don’t worry.” After hanging up, the police officer quickly walked over to Candice and bowed deeply, his demeanor completely transformed.
“I’m terribly sorry, ma’am. I had no idea you were a special guest of the head office. Please forgive me. I will take you to see Belinda right away.”
So soon? Candice was stunned. Milton solved the problem in just a matter of minutes. It appeared he had called the head office, rendering everyone here too intimidated to create any further obstacles.

“Okay. Please arrange a room where we can meet privately,” Candice requested.
“Of course, this way, please.”
The police officer led Candice to the far end of the reception area, unveiling the largest and most comfortable private room.
“Please come in and wait a moment. I will bring Belinda here shortly.”
Candice waved her hand and said, “Alright.”
A few moments later, the police officer from the detention center escorted Belinda to the room.
Opening the door, he ushered Belinda inside, closed the door, and waited respectfully outside.
Belinda, handcuffed but not shackled, walked slowly and with difficulty to the seat opposite Candice, taking a seat. Candice examined Belinda closely, scanning her from head to toe. She was slender, attractive, and her eyes glistened with moisture. She had an elegant demeanor and was the type of woman that many men found appealing.
