Chapter 993
Chapter 1000:
“I’m fine, or I wouldn’t be standing here,” Candice retorted.
“Don’t be so harsh. I haven’t offended you,” Elmo put on an innocent smile. “I never meddle in my sister’s matters. You’re a lawyer. You can sort it out.”
Smiling, Candice replied, “You’re her brother. Shouldn’t I be cautious? Who knows if you and your sister are plotting against me?”
Elmo’s expression darkened. “I’ll get upset if you keep saying that. You’re accusing me unjustly.”
Candice responded with a snort, “If you’re upset, that’s your problem, not mine. Don’t get in my way.”
Elmo extended his arm and refused to step aside. When Candice veered left, he blocked her path, and when she attempted to go right, he stood in her way, determined not to let her pass.
“What the hell are you doing?”
Candice lifted her head in frustration. The corridor wasn’t spacious, and he effectively blocked her way. She didn’t want to create a scene, especially within the confines of Royal Garden Corporation.
“I think you already know that Milton is going to be engaged to my sister,” Elmo stated plainly.
“I do know. So what?” Candice’s heart stung, but she held it in. “It’s just an engagement, not a marriage. No one knows what will happen in the end.”
“You mean you still haven’t given up on him?” Elmo expressed slight surprise. “I thought you’d cut off all contact with him with your tough character.”
“Seriously? How much do you really know about me? How many times have you seen me?” Candice lost her patience. She had responsibilities at Hope Law Firm and no time to waste with him.
“If you give me the chance, I’m willing to get to know you better.” Suddenly, Elmo sidestepped, forcing Candice to take a step back until her back was against the wall.

His arm pressed against the wall, effectively trapping her.
Candice held her breath, unsure of his intentions. Her body grew tense. “There are plenty of men in the world. Why be so obstinate? How about giving me a chance?” He spoke with a smile on his lips, but his eyes were intensely serious. His blue eyes resembled the endless sky, seemingly capable of drawing people in.
Observing Elmo for a moment, without any change in her expression, Candice suddenly said, “I have a question for you.”
Elmo didn’t anticipate such a distinct reaction from her. Regardless of how serious his question was, she wasn’t supposed to respond like this.
“What do you want to ask?” Elmo raised an eyebrow. She was quite the character.
“I’ll help you secure the Olson family’s property. In return, you help me prevent your sister’s marriage. You’ll achieve your goal, but you won’t get me. What will you choose?” Candice stared at him.
