Chapter 641
Chapter 641:
Milton remained silent. He too had a busy day, with numerous unanswered emails still awaiting his attention. He powered up his computer and resumed his work.
Candice returned to the study on the second floor, settling in front of the computer screen. As she switched it on, the screen lit up.
She intended to continue watching the videos.
Suddenly, she noticed something peculiar in one of the frozen frames.
The surveillance screens were all open simultaneously, allowing for continuity between them. For instance, if someone walked from Monitor A to Monitor B, they would vanish from A and then appear on B.
However, at that moment, she observed a waiter vanish from the A surveillance video but didn’t reappear on the B video at the expected time.
An eerie sensation washed over her.
How could this be? The person had simply vanished!
It was unbelievable.
Candice pressed the start button, then double-checked the videos to be sure. Indeed, she had been right.
Even though the waiter didn’t approach the entrance of the Gold Well Hotel, indicating that the waiter had no involvement in her being pushed down the stairs, something was off about the security footage.
She counted the seconds using a chronograph, and mysteriously, that individual vanished from the feed for twenty seconds!
Subsequently, Candice accessed the footage of the Gold Well Hotel’s entrance that she had scrutinized countless times. Numerous eyes had dissected this footage, including law enforcement and Milton. Yet no one could pinpoint who had propelled her down the stairs. Despite the fact that only she and Erica were present, there was no visual evidence of Erica shoving her.
From a judicial perspective, without hard evidence, attributing guilt was impossible.

That was precisely what had aroused her suspicion.
Observing the footage in isolation, she couldn’t identify any irregularities. Yet when combined with her newfound discovery, things would become different.
She activated the chronograph, replaying the footage over and over to measure the time.
Ultimately, she discovered that the moment the waiter disappeared was aligned with the recording at the hotel’s entrance.
In other words, the footage captured at the Gold Well Hotel’s entrance… had been clipped by twenty seconds.
This couldn’t be mere coincidence.
Someone had intentionally scrubbed a twenty-second segment from the surveillance tape. No fingerprints, no timestamp displayed. This was an incredibly sophisticated operation.
If she hadn’t stumbled upon the time difference while examining unrelated videos by chance, or if she hadn’t cleverly placed the questionable videos side by side and watched them together, she would never have unearthed the tampering with the surveillance footage.
