Chapter 60:
Milton glanced at Candice.
Her left hand was swollen as the bracelet was stuck around her knuckles. It was tricky to push it in or take it out.
The longer it took, the more difficult it would become to remove.
Seeing that Candice’s hand had turned blue from lack of blood, Erica hurriedly took a bottle of body lotion from her bag and spread it all over Candice’s hand.
Erica turned to Milton and urged, “Hurry up. You are strong. Give it a try. I’ll help you.”
Candice nodded vigorously in agreement. “Yes, pull it out together.”
However, Milton did the opposite and pushed the bracelet instead.
The bracelet slipped onto Candice’s wrist.
The green color was stunning against her pale skin.
Candice was stunned and angry as she watched the bracelet slip onto her wrist. Without thinking, she raised her head and questioned Milton, “I said, pull it out! Couldn’t you understand what I meant? Can’t you tell the difference between in and out?”
Candice felt herself losing her temper.
It would be tougher to take it out now than to put it on. Suddenly, she realized she had just lost her temper in front of Milton’s mother.
She quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, madam. I… I must find a way to get it out. I was a little anxious and said something unpleasant. Please forgive me!”
Unexpectedly, Erica smiled at Candice, her eyes twinkling as she said, “It doesn’t matter. Just scold him. He needs to be taught a lesson anyway.”
Candice was speechless.
Erica seemed like a really intriguing woman.
Just then, Milton explained, “It was easier to push it in than to pull it out.”
Candice was once again rendered speechless.
It was true.
But it wasn’t her bracelet. Why should she keep it?
Candice didn’t know what to say.
She attempted to take the bracelet off again but failed. Milton looked at her hand and warned, “Your hand is swollen. Don’t bother.”
Candice stared at him coldly and blamed him in her heart.
She bit her lip and said apologetically, “Madam, I’m afraid I can’t take it off now. I’m sorry. I’ll find a way to return it to you. I’m really not his girlfriend. I’m sorry to cause you any trouble. I’ll be leaving now.”
Erica replied with a kind smile.
She knew that once the bracelet slipped onto Candice’s wrist, it would be almost impossible to remove. She felt satisfied.
Candice bowed deeply to Erica after saying goodbye. With that, she lowered her head and hurried out of the house.
After Candice left, Erica turned to Milton and asked, “Don’t you have anything to tell me?”
Milton glanced at the kitchen and said, “Wash the dishes while you’re here.”
Erica was speechless.
However, she was not offended. She was delighted by the fact that Milton had taken a girl home for the night. It was his first time doing so, and she was sure that her son liked this woman.
She had received the news from the security guards in the mansion early in the morning and had come immediately to check things out.
Meanwhile, Candice felt like she was living in a dream as she left Milton’s house in a hurry.
The sun shone brightly as she lifted her wrist and looked at the bracelet. While it was beautiful, she felt her wrist hurting.
On her way home, she received a call from Bettina.
Bettina reminded her of an appointment at the International Exhibition Center, which she was invited to a few days ago.
They were meeting a client there.
Soon after Candice reached home, she took a shower and…
She changed her clothes quickly.
Soon after, she arrived at the International Exhibition Center and signed in.
Unexpectedly, she bumped into Madilyn.
Madilyn was beautifully dressed and wearing heavy makeup. She seemed to be preparing for a performance at the Exhibition Center that day. She was accompanied by two other girls from her dance team.
Madilyn approached and stopped Candice. “Why are you here?” she asked snidely.
She still held a grudge against Candice because Greyson had made her apologize the other day. Madilyn had twice hired some hooligans to try to hurt Candice, but both attempts had failed. Recently, she didn’t dare to make any moves against her, fearing she would be caught again. However, she was still looking for a chance to make Candice’s life miserable.
