Chapter 499
Chapter 499:
Greyson looked puzzled. “Don’t you want me to assist you? Or is there some other reason?”
Abruptly, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer.
“Look at me and speak, Candice.”
Candice lifted her head and met his gaze without looking away.
Frowning, Greyson focused intently on her face. “I know you don’t have enough money to purchase Centilength Biotech. Do you hesitate because of what happened in the past? Do you not want my help? But the Lopez family treated you terribly. Do you still want Milton to buy the company for you?”
Candice maintained a calm gaze and remained silent. Greyson assumed her silence was an admission of his claims, and his emotions teetered on the edge of spiraling out of control.
“Why would you prefer to seek assistance from Milton instead? Why don’t you accept my kindness? You’ve even relocated your office to his building. Candice, do you truly aspire to be associated with him? I’ve repeatedly warned you against entering his world. If you persist, you’ll merely become his plaything!”
Plaything?
Candice was taken aback, her mind drifting back to the private conversation she overheard between Milton’s employees in the restroom earlier that day.
So what if she’s a lawyer? She’s just a personal attorney by name. Isn’t she just a plaything for rich men? Although her position sounds distinguished, she’s actually like any other artist in the entertainment industry. Once they get tired of her, they’ll abandon her, and she’ll be nothing.
As it turned out, in the eyes of everyone, including Greyson, she was nothing more than Milton’s plaything. How amusing.
With a disdainful smirk, Candice withdrew her hand and said, “Mr. Harman, you’re veering off-topic. Let’s not discuss Milton when we’re supposed to be talking about us. I never mentioned anything about the acquisition to Milton. I’m curious—if you acquire Centilength Biotech, what will I gain from this?”

Greyson was taken aback. “You can reclaim the Blake Group. I can assist you in managing it.”
“Then tell me, how did my parents die?” Candice asked again.
Greyson was stunned. “Didn’t they perish in a car accident?”
Candice gave him a chilling look. “Even now, you still believe their car accident was simply an accident, without any hidden motives?”
Greyson squinted, his gaze sharp.
Candice took a deep breath, trying to control her anger, and said, “When I handed you these chemical formulas for study, I already knew what the result would be. I just lacked the means to verify it through proper calculations—the evidence we would need in the future. I…
“I never imagined Benson and Grady could achieve such a flawless outcome. They simply don’t have the necessary skills. I believe there must be someone behind them—a person who has remained hidden from the very beginning. If we expose the truth now, we could reclaim the Blake Group. But what about the truth? What about the truth behind my parents’ death? Who is pulling the strings? It could all be conveniently covered up from this point on.”
