Chapter 485

Chapter 485:
She couldn’t stay there any longer. She would seek revenge in the future but vowed never to be so reckless or underestimate her opponent as she had today.
She hadn’t expected Candice to have such skills.
However, Sigrid was not worried. She had plenty of ways to deal with Candice and wasn’t in a hurry.
Once Sigrid left, Milton walked over and closed the door. Then he passed by Candice and returned to his desk, taking a seat in his spacious chair.
He remained silent, as if the incident that had just occurred never happened.
Noticing Milton’s unreadable expression, Candice kept her mouth shut.
Had she made Milton unhappy by embarrassing Sigrid?
She followed him to his desk and handed him the document.
“Mr. Lopez, this case requires additional evidence and your signature,” she explained, offering him a pen. “Please sign here.”
Milton was displeased by her formal greeting, polite tone, and distant demeanor. When he reached out to take the pen from Candice’s hand, their fingers brushed, sending a brief shock through both of them.
Milton instinctively gripped her hand with his own and firmly pressed it down onto the desk with a snap.
Their skin contact reminded them of their passionate night on the yacht, their bodies and souls perfectly in harmony.
But now, they felt like strangers.
Candice felt her hand growing hotter, while Milton’s palm was even warmer. She felt awkward and tried to withdraw her hand several times but failed. She eventually gave up altogether.
He picked up the document with his other hand and skimmed through it roughly. Then he spoke in a cold tone.
“Candice, you asked your assistant to bring the document for me to sign. Do you think an assistant has the right to see me? What does that mean?”

Milton looked up at her with sharp eyes.
Candice remembered how she had once said she would keep her work and private affairs separate. He was her major client, after all.
Shouldn’t he expect to be treated like one?
Milton pulled Candice even closer and reminded her, “Don’t forget that you are my personal attorney. As a professional, you should have the most basic ethics. Shouldn’t you attend to your big clients’ requirements yourself? Don’t you have to do whatever I want?”
Candice bit her lip and apologized, “I’m sorry. I won’t let my assistant come next time. I’ll bring all documents that need signing in person.”
She knew it was her fault for thinking her assistant could handle it. After all, she had accepted Milton’s deal. He would give her the Blake family villa, and in return, she would be his personal attorney for twelve years. The villa was worth sixty million, and she knew Milton had changed his plans for her. The price he had to pay was incalculable.
