Chapter 884
Chapter 887:
Spotting the triumphant look on Candice’s face, Milton cleared his throat and retorted, “In that case, perhaps you should ingest a few extra pills, and we can evaluate their effectiveness tonight.” Suppressing his laughter, he deliberately looked away.
As expected, Candice was left without a comeback. She had planned to tease Milton about his excessive indulgence but now found herself cornered. He intended to test the effects tonight? She had inadvertently signed up for the night’s events. She truly had trouble handling this man.
With a pout of frustration, Candice swung open the car door to exit. Milton followed her and couldn’t resist a smile. Did she think she could outsmart him? She was still too naive.
The pair then ascended to the top-floor banquet hall in the elevator. The celebration party had already commenced. Melodic music filled the expansive room.
Clusters of people, each clutching a champagne glass, engaged in amiable and sophisticated conversations around small round tables. A long table, lined with a variety of desserts and seafood, stretched across the room.
Surveying the hall, Candice realized that everyone who was supposed to be present was indeed there. She spotted Bettina and Raul conversing with a group of directors at a distance. Bart, on the other hand, was tucked away in a corner, his expression icy.
Candice sneered. There was a compelling performance to be staged. How could the main character not make an appearance? After knowing Bart’s mistreatment of Bettina, Candice was determined to make him face the consequences of his actions. However, Erica was nowhere to be seen.
Candice decided to wait longer.
Spotting the entrance of Milton and Candice from afar, Anson and Boden hastily approached them.
“Mr. Lopez, you have finally arrived. It is only when you grace this party with your presence that we can truly feel a sense of achievement,” Boden buttered him up. His eyes appreciating

Candice, he added with a smile,
“I suppose we have Miss Blake to thank for your attendance.”
Boden was well aware that, in the past, such social gatherings held little appeal for Milton.
Candice responded to his comment with a gracious smile.
Anson exclaimed with enthusiasm,
“Miss Blake, your contributions to the acquisition of Warren Building Materials were invaluable. We can’t wait to see what other surprises you have in store for us.”
Upon hearing this, Milton’s eyebrows knitted together in frustration.
He disapproved of the directors treating Candice as if she were some kind of cash cow.
With a stern look, Milton suggested to Anson that he should be happy with the money Candice had made him.
Anson responded with an uneasy grin.
