Chapter 505
Chapter 505:
He held a profound affection for the girl who had saved him in Overshow, only to realize that he had directed his gratitude toward the wrong person. If only he had investigated and uncovered the truth sooner, none of this would have happened.
However, it was too late now. Candice had already fallen in love with Milton. Her love for him had ceased to exist. He felt intense regret, as if a bullet had pierced through his heart, causing him numbness and pain that almost suffocated him.
Lifting his head, he raised the bottle to his lips and poured the fiery liquor down his throat. Regret engulfed his heart entirely. He clenched his hair tightly between his fingers, on the verge of madness from his remorse.
After a long while, the potent tequila began to cloud his mind, and everything before him slowly became blurry.
He figured he must be drunk—and that was perfectly fine. He wished everything was just a dream, and that when he woke up, everything would return to the way it used to be.
The bottle fell to the floor with a sharp, crisp sound.
Greyson collapsed beside the sofa and drifted into slumber.
Meanwhile, Madilyn had been released from the police station some time ago. Her bank account held only a small balance. It wasn’t much since she had developed a habit of overspending and failed to save. In the past, whenever she ran out of money, she could simply ask Greyson for help.
She never imagined ending up in such a predicament.
She didn’t dare visit the Harman family’s residence, let alone Harmony Hospital. Instead, she sought refuge at a hotel on Starsea Street, wanting to see Greyson—refusing to accept being abandoned like this.
Tonight, she finally noticed a glimmer of light coming from his apartment.
Greyson hadn’t returned home in a long time.
But now, he finally did.
She waited downstairs for quite a while until it grew late and the flow of people coming in and out dwindled. She noticed the light was still on. Quietly, she slipped into the building and took the elevator up to the 18th floor.

She took out a key. Although Greyson usually secured his apartment with a password lock, Rachel had secretly duplicated the key for emergencies. Eventually, she and Madilyn had kept the key until now.
Greyson was likely unaware of this.
Outside the door, she heard no sounds from within. Carefully, she turned the doorknob and sneaked inside.
Madilyn entered Greyson’s apartment.
In fact, she had never been there before, as Greyson never allowed anyone inside. He disliked others invading his personal space. Whenever he needed a break or felt overwhelmed, he would retreat to this secluded place, but she had never been permitted to join him.
However, when the Harman family ousted Candice, Greyson surprisingly allowed her to stay there. Madilyn couldn’t understand why he made that decision, and it weighed heavily on her.
