Chapter 864
Chapter 867:
Candice realized by Bettina’s unusual outburst that she still had some feelings for Bart.
Candice bit her lip and said, “I know. I’ll see what I can do. I’ll never hurt you, okay? So, tell me. What is between you and Raul?”
“Oh, he… He’s just helping me.” Bettina frowned. “He doesn’t know anything. I haven’t told him.”
“Okay. Don’t tell him anything now,” Candice reminded her. “Let me see how to deal with this. I won’t put you in a difficult spot. I promise.”
Bettina nodded.
“Before anything else, go freshen up in the bathroom. Look at you, with a red nose like a beacon of sadness!” Candice advised while patting her cheek gently, her words dripping with concern. This was so unlike Bettina.
Bettina obliged and went to the bathroom, repeatedly washing her face with warm water. Soon, her eyes weren’t as red and swollen. Emerging from the bathroom, Bettina shared her plans with Candice.
“Tomorrow is Friday. There will be a huge celebration for the Royal Garden Corporation’s acquisition of Warren Building Materials in the evening. The celebration will be attended by the most influential shareholders and directors. Our legal firm’s employees are also cordially invited. Tomorrow, I’ll be there for the celebration. How about you?”
A flicker of intensity sparked in Candice’s eyes as she replied, “Of course, I will be there.”
Not only did Candice plan to attend the celebration, but she also had an agenda, which she contemplated as she conversed with Bettina. Candice made a mental note to carefully strategize her next moves.
Bettina, still recovering from her emotional outpouring, sighed. “I heard that Milton isn’t keen on attending. I assumed you would feel the same.” Bettina wiped her eyes with a wet tissue.
She had gone into the bathroom just now and put on some foundation to hide the bruises and swelling around her eyes and jaw.

“I will persuade him to accompany me,” Candice declared, her eyes bright with resolve. “Betty, please promise me you won’t be so silly in the future. No matter what happens, always confide in me. Remember, we are best friends.”
“Okay.” Bettina nodded seriously.
Back in the office, Candice thoughtfully prepared a cup of hot water for Bettina, offering her a soothing gesture.
Holding the warm cup, Bettina felt a sense of comfort and took a sip, her spirits lifting.
Empowered by her renewed vigor, Bettina efficiently delegated tasks to her assistants, showcasing her energy and competence.
Candice breathed a sigh of relief, reassured by Bettina’s restored composure.
Retreating to her office, Candice swiftly concluded the case entrusted to her, leaving no loose ends.
