Chapter 260

Chapter 260:
Bettina shrugged and laughed it off. “Well, I know now, but I’m not really that interested.”
She tossed her phone onto the table and continued, “I think that’s quite enough about that refined scum. Let’s not discuss him anymore. Today is Candy’s birthday. Let’s celebrate and forget about anything unpleasant. Since it’s your treat, Mr. Lopez, how about a bottle of Romani red wine? This restaurant is the only one that has it currently.”
Romani red wine was the number one red wine in the world—expensive and rare, with only a few hundred boxes produced each year.
Candice had heard of it but never tasted it. She nudged Bettina and said, “It’s noon. Are you really going to drink in broad daylight?”
Without hesitation, Milton said, “A bottle of Romani red wine it is.”
The meal lasted until two o’clock in the afternoon. Bettina drank most of the red wine, while Milton only had one glass. As for Candice, Milton didn’t allow her to drink.
That was probably for the best. Candice couldn’t help but smile to herself. She could handle a little alcohol but couldn’t hold much. Last time, she got wasted after just one glass of wine. Candice suspected there were other spirits mixed in that red wine, making it especially strong and the reason she got drunk so quickly.
In contrast, Bettina was excellent at handling her alcohol. She had already polished off half the bottle but wasn’t even slurring her words; if anything, she seemed even more excited.
“Mr. Lopez, let’s have more fun after this, okay?” Bettina said, flashing Milton a playful, squinty smile.
Pulling Bettina back gently, Candice whispered in her ear, “Enough, Betty. Let’s just go home after this.”
Candice could tell Bettina’s mood had been affected after running into Bart earlier today. Bettina was doing her best to pretend she didn’t care, but Candice knew it was all an act. Bettina was practically drowning herself in red wine; she was obviously upset.
As far as Candice knew, Bart had just returned from abroad. He and Bettina hadn’t seen each other in a long time, so the unexpected encounter had startled them both.
“No, I don’t want to go home. It’s still early. Don’t be such a killjoy. It’s your birthday, for crying out loud,” Bettina pouted and whined.

Candice was speechless. She couldn’t believe Bettina was using her birthday as an excuse to make a fuss.
“What do you want to do after this, Bettina?” Milton asked.
“Anything’s fine, except a nightclub,” Bettina replied.
“Don’t be silly, Mr. Lopez. It’s still daytime. Nightclubs are closed. Don’t worry. I want to go to this new indoor golf course that just opened in Ploville. I haven’t been there. I heard it’s a high-tech VR experience, but they have an exclusive membership system. I think it’ll be fun to play there,” Bettina said.
“Are you talking about the Vinson Golf Club?” Milton asked, raising his eyebrows.
“Yes, that’s the one.” Bettina nodded repeatedly. “I think that place is a bit snobbish. Their membership system requires a recommendation from a celebrity or a prominent individual. They only welcome guests who are rich and hold a high position in the social hierarchy. I haven’t gotten my recommendation letter yet. Screw it! Nevertheless, I’m still curious about it. I mean, it’s just an indoor golf course. What could possibly be so great about it? I don’t know who owns the place, but whoever they are, they must be a profiteer. Their business model is vicious, to say the least.”
