Chapter 789
Chapter 789:
He had numerous requests but didn’t want others serving him or even nearing him.
Before Milton’s injury, his stay at her place had been bearable as he tended to most chores himself. But after he got hurt, the tables had turned, and Candice had to cater to his every eccentric whim.
His demands were downright infuriating.
He must have been a royal pain in his past life, given how hard he was to please.
And this individual desired to establish his domain surrounding her residence. Wasn’t Candice subjected to his control throughout her entire life? From the law firm to her own home, all spaces seemed to be dominated by Milton, leaving no room for Candice to assert herself or find her own place.
Noticing Candice’s silence, Milton continued, “The lavender you had in the bathroom was too overpowering and tacky, almost cheap. So, I discarded it. Instead, I introduced an essential oil blend crafted by a renowned perfumer. It starts with orange blossom, transitions to iris, and finishes with amber. A perfect blend for relaxation.”
Candice’s face flushed with rage as she glared at Milton.
How dare he take such liberties? How dare he tamper with her stuff? How dare he discard her possessions as he pleased?
Even if the lavender was a cheap online purchase, it was hers!
Frustration bubbling over, Candice could hold her tongue no longer. “HOW dare you! I’ve had enough! You have rested for several days. When are you leaving?”
Milton reclined against the sofa, expressing his dissatisfaction. “I injured my right arm because I wanted to protect you, and now I can’t move it. How could you ask me to move out?”
“What?” Candice was losing patience. It felt as if Milton constantly used this excuse to play her. She had endured his shenanigans for days on end. What more did he want from her?
“Was it my fault you got hurt? Remember, I advised you to ignore the car trailing us and check the surveillance video instead. It was you who tricked Cathy into that factory, causing the accident. Had you heeded my advice, Cathy would also be behind bars now!” Candice vented her anger.

Milton chuckled in response. “Oh, so I lured Cathy into the factory? Who was it that stayed out late partying with colleagues from the firm without telling me? Didn’t I arrange for Jarrod to escort you daily? And who ended up being the one manipulated because she couldn’t follow simple instructions?”
“I…” Candice found herself at a loss for words. She paused, took a deep breath, and shot back. “Yes, I kept it from you. So what? The blame lies with your intent to buy out Warren Building Materials. Is that my fault?”
Unyielding, Milton fired back, “Buying and acquiring is normal business conduct. Usually, the legal representatives discreetly handle these dealings, and the other party stays oblivious to the planner. Who was it that publicly announced herself as Belinda’s lawyer at a charity event? Who made herself the target of public criticism?”
Candice was at a loss for words. She had not realized Milton was so articulate. His argumentative skills were so on point that it was a shame he wasn’t in the legal profession. Even she had trouble countering him.
