On the top floor of the Hyatt Hotel, Lambert, CEO of Far East International Trade Company, was waiting. He kept checking his watch. Milton was always punctual. It was unusual that he was more than ten minutes late today.
Lambert felt a bit nervous. His biggest worry was that Milton would cancel on him. Still, he felt too embarrassed to call and urge him.
While waiting, he saw a familiar figure emerge from Room 206.
He recognized her immediately. The first time anyone saw her, they would never forget her. She was the personal attorney Milton had brought to the last party. Her name, Candy, was firmly etched in his mind.

He was in Room 205, and Candy was in the next room, 206.
After watching for a while, he concluded that Candy must have gone to the restroom. She returned to Room 206 after being gone for a little over ten minutes. He blinked and looked more closely. It was indeed Candy. He was right.
Only a little while later, Milton appeared.
Lambert quickly approached him and greeted him politely, “Hello, Mr. Lopez.”
Milton glanced at his watch. “Something came up. I’m half an hour late.”
With a wide grin, Lambert replied, “Don’t say that. It means the world to me to have you here today. Please, come in.”
He opened the door to Room 205 and motioned for Milton to enter.
Once Milton sat down, Lambert poured him a cup of tea and said, “Mr. Lopez, I appreciate your trust in giving me the new golf course development project. Also, thank you for the upfront payment. Financial difficulties have recently plagued Far East International Trade Company. You saved me! There’s never been a better time to express my gratitude.”
Holding the cup of tea, Milton said, “I trusted you enough to give you the project. There are no…
“Other strings attached to that. Don’t feel obligated to show me such gratitude. Just do excellently what you should do.”
For some reason, at that same moment, Lambert thought about Candy. He knew that it was Candy’s excellent recommendations that had helped Milton decide to entrust the job to him. He had casually heard this from Milton.
