Chapter 631
Chapter 631:
Candice was at a loss for words.
“What? Really Bettina, now enraged, grabbed Candice by the collar. “Candy, were you courting death? Have you completely forgotten our firm’s protocols? If you’re after crucial evidence and might face danger, you’re required to be accompanied. You need to notify the firm ahead of time and get my approval. You’re supposed to share your location upon arrival and ensure your phone is reachable and recording at all times. Have all these slipped your mind?”
Once again, Candice found herself speechless.
She had suspected Bettina would react this way once she found out.
“So, the Hope Law Firm operates on such principles,” Milton shot a frosty look at Candice and declared, “She is notorious for flouting the rules. She never adheres to them. She even disguised herself as a prostitute, infiltrating Watery Aroma for evidence, and as a consequence, she was roughed up by some thugs.”
Candice was dumbstruck. Why on earth was this man tattling to Bettina?
“Candice, what are you up to?” Bettina’s tone suddenly escalated. “Your salary is going to be deducted! And there will be repercussions! As a partner, you led the charge in disregarding the law firm’s rules! I’m going to issue a firm-wide reprimand against you! Do you comprehend? Huh?”
Candice massaged her temples in frustration and nodded, “Yes.” Milton chimed in, “Comprehending isn’t enough. She’s incapable of adherence.”
Candice shot a fierce look at Milton. This man was clearly provoking her on purpose.
As expected, Bettina was livid. She nearly leapt up. “Mr. Lopez, you must keep her on a tight leash before the trial, by any means necessary. You can’t allow her to roam free! This is serious business. She’s far too immature!” Bettina’s words were music to Milton’s ears.
He responded, “Very well, starting today, we will live together.” It took a while for Candice to comprehend that they were supposed to live together. What was he implying?

Why on earth would he announce his intention to live with her before the entire law firm?
She was tempted to storm up and silence him. He was shameless and brazen, but she certainly was not!
Milton gestured towards Candice and proposed, “I offer you three options. First, you can move into my place. Second, I can move into yours. Third, you can remain here. I will have the entire law firm sealed off. From now on, entry is permitted, but exit is prohibited.”
Candice was at a loss for words again.
Bettina swiftly objected to Milton’s third idea. “Blocking the law firm? That’s something you can’t do! Everyone has to work undisturbed. Mona, I trust you share the same sentiment?”
“Of course!” Mona shrugged nonchalantly. “Absolutely. I have a crucial case this week that cannot be delayed, so any disruptions would be disastrous.”
Candice was well aware that blocking the law office was not a viable option.
