She had suspected Bettina would react this way once she found out.
“So, the Hope Law Firm operates on such principles,” Milton shot a frosty look at Candice and declared, “She is notorious for flouting the rules. She never adheres to them. She even disguised herself as a prostitute, infiltrating Watery Aroma for evidence, and as a consequence, she was roughed up by some thugs.”
Candice was dumbstruck. Why on earth was this man tattling to Bettina?

Candice shot a fierce look at Milton. This man was clearly provoking her on purpose.

He responded, “Very well, starting today, we will live together.” It took a while for Candice to comprehend that they were supposed to live together. What was he implying?

Milton gestured towards Candice and proposed, “I offer you three options. First, you can move into my place. Second, I can move into yours. Third, you can remain here. I will have the entire law firm sealed off. From now on, entry is permitted, but exit is prohibited.”
Candice was at a loss for words again.
Bettina swiftly objected to Milton’s third idea. “Blocking the law firm? That’s something you can’t do! Everyone has to work undisturbed. Mona, I trust you share the same sentiment?”
