Chapter 187
Chapter 187:
No wonder some people had such a special fondness for feet—they could be very tempting sometimes.
Candice noticed the change in his gaze and tried to pull her feet back.
This man!!
Milton, dismayed, realized he had messed up the situation. He held her ankles and helped her into the shoes, one after the other. He could only maintain his composure by avoiding looking at her feet.
He stood up straight, gave her an appreciative glance, and said casually, “You look much better in those.”
Candice responded glumly, “You’re not the reason I’m wearing them. You were the one who interfered with my investigation. I already took him down, and I wouldn’t have done that if I weren’t prepared and confident. If you had hurt him and the cops had shown up, you would’ve ruined my plan! Do you realize that?”
Milton’s expression soured when he heard her words.
Was she really still defending herself?
Candice rolled her eyes and said, “Looks like you’ve got nothing better to do lately, huh?”
Milton raised his eyebrows, confused. “What the heck are you trying to say?”
Indignantly, Candice snapped, “Why is it that I keep seeing you all the time?”
She jumped down from the dresser.
“I have to go now. Get out of my way, will you?”
Despite the fury building inside him, she shoved him aside. As soon as she stepped out of the dressing room, she saw Raul pacing in the hallway.
Raul was walking in impatient circles.
When he saw that Candice had emerged unharmed, he quickly asked, “Candy, are you okay?” Milton came out right after.
Candice looked first at Raul, then at Milton.
Finally, she asked Raul, “Did you tell him I was here?”

Raul rubbed his temples and replied, “I was just trying to help. I was worried something terrible could happen to you.”
Candice shot back, “I’m more inclined to think something terrible is more likely to happen to him. Your energy would be better spent worrying about him than about me.”
Raul couldn’t find a single word to respond.
That made a lot of sense.
Raul gave an awkward grin. “You could be right, Candy.”
Suddenly, Milton shot him a fierce glare that made his hair stand on end.
Candice shook her head and quickened her pace to leave.
When Milton passed by Raul, he said, “The box room’s door was damaged. You’re going to have to fix it later. Also, find out who let her in. Please inform the club owner that if Candice shows up at Watery Aroma again, I will be forced to shut down the establishment.”
