Chapter 848
Chapter 851:
“What is it?” Candice intentionally maintained a distance from Greyson, who had been a little intimidating just moments ago.
“I stumbled upon your father’s medical records in Harmony Hospital a while back. I didn’t take them with me at the time since I hadn’t taken over the hospital. I recently came across them again while sorting through some materials.” Greyson opened the car door and retrieved a weathered kraft paper bag. The bag’s edges were worn, and the writing on it had started to fade, but the words “Kyle Davies” were still visible.
Candice took the paper bag skeptically. Her father, she recalled, had always been healthy, seldom visiting the hospital.
“What did my father have?” she asked.
“Well, nothing major. Just some usual male health issues, like kidney stones, prostate problems, and so on. He was admitted once due to a kidney stone attack. But judging by these reports, it seems your father had his prostate removed. It was likely a procedure done elsewhere, as there’s no record of it in our hospital,” Greyson explained, motioning to one of the medical reports.
The revelation left Candice shell-shocked. Was her father incapable of having children? But then it struck her—the procedure must have been done after her birth. Had her parents led a platonic marriage since then? She had never been aware of such a thing.
They had always appeared deeply in love, suggesting that sex wasn’t a prerequisite for their relationship.
This new information underscored Greyson’s words. There was so much about her family that she didn’t know.
“Oh, I remember my father having surgery a few years back,” Candice lied, though she had no recollection whatsoever.
Greyson seemed to accept her statement, reasoning that it was challenging to determine the timeframe of the procedure from the images. If a man, especially over the age of 50, detected early stages of prostate cancer, it would make sense to remove the prostate without significantly impacting his lifespan.

“Thanks for handing me these documents.”
As she prepared to return the papers to the bag, she noticed a critical detail on an old test report.
It stated that Kyle, her father, was of blood type O.
Candice was taken aback. How could that be? Her mother had always told her that her father’s blood type was B. With her mother being blood type O and her father being type B, it made sense for her to have type B blood. However, this report indicated that her father was of blood type O, making it impossible for him to have a type B child. Logically, Kyle could not be her biological father!
Candice had harbored such suspicions before, considering she was born before her parents’ wedding and bore her mother’s last name. However, her mother had always insisted that Candice was the product of a misunderstanding between her and Kyle and that they had reconciled and married afterward. Since Candice already had her name, her mother saw no need to change it.
Candice had trusted her mother’s words.
But now, the revelation of Kyle’s prostate surgery and the mismatch of their blood types confirmed her suspicion. Her mother had hidden the truth. Her real father was someone else.
