Chapter 542
Chapter 542:
The crowd started discussing, and some individuals began to make a scene. After all, those who lost were unwilling to accept the result of the drawing. It was simply a matter of luck, and if cheating was involved, it would truly be detestable.
“Let her give it a try! Let her try!”
“We have the right to know the truth!”
“Please prove that you didn’t cheat!”
As soon as someone began to heckle, many others would immediately join in. The previously calm charity event grew noisy.
Candice shot Cathy a challenging gaze.
Today, she was determined to ensure that Corless wouldn’t steal an honor he didn’t deserve. Cathy sensed Candice’s provocation, and her anger surged.
As the audience’s voices grew louder, the host felt helpless and motioned for the director of the welfare home to step aside.
The host then stated, “Miss, please come up on stage and give it a try. If you are unable to draw the No. 56 ball, it will prove that our drawing is fair and effective. Then, please put an end to this charade and do not obstruct our work, alright?”
“No problem.”
Candice left her seat and headed straight for the stage.
As Candice stepped onto the stage, she cast a cold glance at the director of the welfare home.
The director immediately lowered her head, guilt washing over her as she dared not speak.
Corless glared at Candice. This woman seemed familiar, but he couldn’t quite remember where he had seen her before.
Candice ignored him entirely. Engaging with such a despicable person would be a waste of time.
The host handed Candice the box. “Miss, please draw a numbered ball.”

With a faint smile, Candice reached into the box, her fingers searching for something. She closed her eyes, focusing intently.
At this point, Corless began to taunt her. “What are you looking for in there? They’re all the same balls. I don’t believe you’ll find anything unusual. What a joke!”
The onlookers below waited in anticipation.
Everyone was looking forward to seeing whether this was some sort of farce or if someone really was cheating.
The host, growing impatient, urged her, “Miss, please hurry up. We have other tasks to complete after this event. Please cooperate with us, okay?”
As she spoke, Candice suddenly opened her eyes. Her expression brightened. She had found it!
With a radiant smile, she withdrew a numbered ball from the box.
After glancing at it herself, she showed it to the host. Then she displayed the ball to the audience, rotating it so they could see every angle.
