Chapter 787
Chapter 787:
It was a stark deviation from his usual scolding tone, one Candice had almost grown used to.
His sudden tenderness left her disoriented.
Caught off guard, Candice simply nodded in agreement.
But his next words nearly pushed her over the edge.
“Write a five-thousand-word commitment. Right now,” Milton demanded.
Once again, Candice was at a loss for words.
In the following days, Milton found comfort in the tranquility of his home. Regular visits from Davion and Sariah became part of his daily routine.
On the fifth day, Milton no longer required any infusion, so Sariah didn’t need to return. Only Davion continued to visit, maintaining their routine.
Work at Royal Garden Corporation began piling up. Initially, Jarrod sent documents to Milton for his signature. A couple of days later, Axell, Milton’s special assistant, started visiting Candice’s home daily to share business reports, stock index updates, and other important matters with Milton.
By the fourth day, Candice returned to the Hope Law Firm to handle her work. However, Milton only allowed her to work for half a day. She was required to leave by ten in the morning and return before three in the afternoon. Reluctantly, she complied, despite her objections.
Time worked its healing magic on Milton. Aside from his right arm, still secured in a brace, and his chest requiring further recovery, he was well on his way to full health.
At exactly three o’clock in the afternoon, Candice arrived home punctually. The house was empty, indicating that Axell had completed his work report and left. The cleaners had also tidied up the place. Milton sat on the sofa, a smile on his face as he witnessed Candice’s timely return.
Pointing to the coffee cup before him, he requested, “Perfect timing. Brew me a cup of coffee. Skim milk only. And hold the sugar.”

Candice sighed internally as she set her bag down. This man was demanding! If they lived in a different era, he would definitely be royalty.
Milton’s lifestyle was nothing short of finicky and refined, with specific tastes down to the smallest detail. He once wanted a latte, but Candice didn’t know how to make it. To her further exasperation, Milton had relocated his massive coffee machine to her house.
He continued to move other things into her home—books, a water dispenser, clothes, accessories, and even furniture. Her space was steadily transforming into his own, leaving her feeling intruded upon.
It seemed Milton had no intention of relocating. He was resolute in his determination to stay at her house.
Despite her anger, Candice conceded, acknowledging that Milton had saved her life.
She found herself obligated to repay him. Complying with his request, she prepared the coffee, setting it down before him with mild annoyance.
