Chapter 206
Chapter 206:
Again, Candice found herself at a loss for words.
Indeed, having a normal conversation between them seemed impossible.
Erica looked Candice up and down eagerly. “When’s your birthday? I know a master who’s an expert at picking good dates. I’ll ask him to find a lucky day for you.”
Candice didn’t understand this woman for a second!
Choose a date?! For what? A wedding?
“Sorry, but you completely misunderstood us, ma’am. I…” Candice had never before imagined that, as a lawyer, she would be outmatched in a verbal exchange. But she was completely unable to handle Milton’s mother. It was simply too much of a challenge. She couldn’t reason with someone so irrational.
After that, Candice lowered her head in defeat and studied Erica’s footwear. Then, with a sudden idea, she shifted the conversation to a new topic.
“Ma’am, could you tell me your shoe size?”
Erica glanced at Candice’s feet and said, “I’m currently a size 37. Your feet look very small and delicate. You wear size 35? It’s rare to meet someone like you.”
Candice replied, “Yes, my size is 35.”
At that point, Candice realized the shoes in the trunk of Milton’s car were not for Erica. The sizes didn’t match.
Milton didn’t have a sister as far as she knew.
Did Milton really prepare those shoes for her?
Then Candice looked down at the clothes she had just changed into and said, “By the way, I borrowed a set of your clothes for temporary use, ma’am. I’ll return them after dry cleaning.”
She wondered if the clothes in Milton’s closet belonged to Erica.
Erica shook her head, glanced at Candice, and said, “They’re not mine. I’ve never worn a style like that—it looks too young. Where did you get the clothes?”
Candice asked instinctively, stunned, “I found them in the master bedroom closet. Does that mean a woman lives here?”

Erica hurriedly waved her hands. “That’s impossible! Except for me, you’re the first woman to visit this place.”
Candice was thrown for a loop. She was the first woman?!
Candice was the first woman?!
Erica’s response took her completely by surprise.
Apparently, so was her son! Everything made sense to her now. “Yeah, a maid is out of the question for him. Even when the cleaning company sends someone, he insists on a male cleaner.” Erica shrugged and spoke candidly, feeling helpless when it came to her son’s strange ways.
“So, I had a hunch he might be homosexual until you showed up here,” Erica whispered to Candice. “I’m happy to see you. Tell me, have you done it?”
Candice was speechless. Was she insane?
