Chapter 818
Chapter 821:
In fact, Candice had never stopped her investigations. She had been diligently monitoring Grady and Benson. Ever since Grady was compelled to hand over the research and development materials of Centilength Biotech to her, he had kept a low profile, abstaining from any further actions.
Candice organized the documents Greyson brought on the table and set them aside neatly. A thought seemed to strike her, prompting her to question, “Did you also stumble upon my diary among these things? I don’t see it today. Do you not wish to return it?”
Greyson’s attractive face tensed up.
He had actually hoped to keep her diary. It was his sole desire.
“I’m not sure where I’ve placed the diary.”
Greyson threw out a hasty excuse, certain that Candice wouldn’t buy it, but also aware that she couldn’t do much about it.
Candice gave a smile. “Hold on to it. I don’t need it anyway. Thanks for returning the other documents. Is there anything else?”
Greyson retraced his steps to the couch, retrieving a navy-blue certificate from his bag.
He handed the certificate to Candice and explained, “I’ve got the patent for the new drug. This is the primary purpose of my visit.”
Candice’s lips quivered as she accepted the patent, bearing her mother’s name and her own. The patent was like physical property and was hereditary. Since her mother had been gone when the patent application was made, Candice was now the sole recipient of the patent.
Excitement made her fingers shake, causing the certificate to flutter. Candice had waited eagerly for this certificate, enduring numerous humiliations from the Harman family along the way. But as she held it in her hand now, it felt somewhat surreal to her.
Would her mother have been overjoyed to witness this? Once more, Candice’s eyes welled up with tears.

Observing her melancholy state and the tear trickling from the corner of her eye, Greyson instinctively reached out, tenderly wiping the tear away. Reacting as if she had been shocked, Candice hastily recoiled from Greyson. Feeling it was inappropriate, she quickly folded the patent certificate and said, “Thank you for honoring your word.”
Her aloofness and formal mannerism struck a chord of discontent in Greyson.
“The patent is rightfully yours. Truth be told, I never sought it. But…” Greyson left his sentence unfinished.
Greyson, driven by the Harman family’s reputation, used the patent to ensnare Candice back then. However, his intentions took a personal twist when he sought to leverage the patent as a means to win her affection. Alas, his efforts were ultimately in vain!
From the depths of his suit, Greyson produced a stack of cash checks and gently placed them in Candice’s hand. “Behold, the profits reaped from your new drug.”
Candice glanced at the impressive stack of cash checks, each bearing a million-dollar face value.
