Chapter 760
Chapter 760:
Utilizing his extensive network of connections, Milton had finally tracked down the doctor responsible for Candice’s pregnancy in America — a certain Essie.
Milton switched on his phone.
And then, he played the recorded conversation.
Through the crackling audio, Essie’s voice emerged. She sounded flustered, scared, and utterly helpless.
“Principal Harman, I’m sorry. Mr. Lopez discovered me, and I had no other choice. I’m just a nobody, ill-equipped to face off against powerful individuals like you. I’m willing to relinquish the money you’ve given me, the opportunity for further doctoral studies, and my position at Harmony Hospital. I can give up everything. The pressure is too much to bear. Principal Harman, I’m truly sorry. I’ve confessed everything to Mr. Lopez. I’m really sorry.”
Essie kept saying sorry over and over, as if there were more words desperate to escape her lips.
Milton, however, silenced the recording. With a mischievous smirk, he waved his phone in front of Greyson, teasingly.
“So what? Principal Harman, what more do you wish to share?”
Greyson’s face turned a ghastly white when he heard Essie’s voice. It dawned on him that Milton was already in on the secret he believed was well-concealed.
Greyson’s silence met with a harsh truth from Milton.
“You were aware of Candice’s pregnancy when she visited East Hospital. A scheme you set into motion the moment she stepped in to register. Your help came from Mario, the director of the local medical bureau. He switched out Candice’s scheduled doctor with Dr. Essie Murray. Because Essie was the one Mario could control. You instructed Essie to keep you updated on Candice’s treatment. When the tests came back, you were informed of the fetus’s congenital issues. It appeared to lack a heart, its embryonic bud growing at a snail’s pace. This was due to Candice and I being drugged the night she conceived. Adding to the complications, she showed signs of miscarriage, making it nearly impossible for the pregnancy to last. Trying to save the fetus or stop the bleeding was futile; the sensible choice was to proceed with an abortion. But you instructed Essie to conceal the truth, prescribing Candice with hemostatics. Principal Harman, what was your motive?”

Milton’s tone hardened with each revelation. The guilt from Candice’s miscarriage had been eating at him.
“Even after the miscarriage, you withheld the truth from her, knowing how much the baby meant to her. Rather than sparing her the anguish, you let her suffer, knowing well the child was doomed from the start. You continued to keep the truth hidden. In your attempt to bury the truth completely, you blamed the record room for misplacing reports. You claimed Essie misdiagnosed due to a mix-up of test results. You went to great lengths to erase all traces of Candice’s original test report. I’m guessing you must have the real report stashed away somewhere. I once suspected you and Essie knew each other, but that theory was quickly dismissed by the principal of East Hospital, causing me to chase the wrong lead. You went to great efforts to secure a ticket for Essie to study abroad, assuring her a position back at Harmony Hospital after a three-year break, once everything had calmed down.”
